Study: Congress literally doesn’t care what you think. The preferences of the average American appear to have only a miniscule, near-zero, statistically non-significant impact upon public policy.
  • People on this website are understandably losing their minds because we've let this type of politics fester so much that the stakes are genuinely high this election cycle. But the stakes are only so high because we keep attempting the same thing over and over again. At this point, I'm not even advocating for a third party. I just want Democrats to do better instead of being less crappy than the other guys.

  • Steam Deck Now Cheaper Than A Switch During Valve's Big Summer Sale
  • Honestly, I think we need to stop worrying about console power. It's not contributing to games getting any better.

If anything, the absolutely insane graphical targets of modern games are causing fewer games being made.

  • Fuck this guy.
  • I never said we dont need reforms. In fact the issue I have is Capitalism as a whole.

All UBI would do is give those who own the means of automation 100% power. What leverage would we have if not our labor?

Thats not at all to say what we have going on right now is not evil.

  • Fuck this guy.
  • I actually think universal basic income is a very flawed idea from a leftist perspective.

It is effectively a capitalist compromise that still puts all of the asset holders in immense positions of power. The only difference now is they effectively are governmentally enforced as those positions of power. It will make the wealth disparity exponentially worse.

The answer to our wealth disparity is to put power in the hands of the average person.

  • Why Democrats think Biden’s problem is Biden
  • Right, but this also means a fresh face, with little political history would fit that description. We put up the exact oppsite of that.

IE, less of the fossils that currently make up the party.

  • Trump’s Second Term: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)
  • It doesnt really matter if we dont do anything to stop it. I fear if Biden does win (hopefully) that dems will have learned nothing, wasted the next four years instead of fortifying democracy, leaving us with another most important election ever.

We should have used our governmental trifecta in the first two years to plug up every hole in the system.

  • Lemmy.world Should Defederate with Threads

I think it's pretty safe to say that the majority of us are here to avoid another corporate takeover of our preferred platforms. It would seem to me to be a tad irresponsible to allow Facebook into our space with open arms, allowing them to hoover up our data. I would love to keep using Lemmy.world, but will happily change instances if need be, and I feel many share that sentiment.
