One of the things that contributed to the USSR’s stagnation and eventual collapse/betrayal was the fact that the Red Army effectively became an unchecked, expensive black hole without civilian oversight after Stalin’s death. And outside of staring down NATO and the PLA on the Warsaw Pact’s borders, the military was only caught up in just Afghanistan. Maybe this is just wishful thinking but…
No Todds, no masters
Libs will nod along to this but whenever it’s China or Russia denying atrocities, “of course they’d say that!”.
Nana, nanana nanananana Katamari Damacy
For other unmentioned hits you have Persona 4 Golden, SMT 3 Nocturne, Tomb Raider Legend, Destroy All Humans, and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (ignore Tom Clancy’s garbage politics and it’s a fun, “grounded” military stealth game alternative to MGS).
I loved the Ty the Tasmanian Tiger games as a kid and they all got ported to PC but IDK how well they aged, so….
Aria of Sorrow, Fire Emblem, Minish Cap… yeah
Okay, let me rephrase. They can try, but I don't think it will work on anyone but the bluedogs who were already eating that shit up.
This really is the best outcome in the event of Trump's win. Dems eat shit and they can't try to scapegoat Jill Stein or pro-Palestinians (a la Michigan) like they did Ralph Nader or dissatisfied voters in the 2000 election.
Ze unpromising race pupil
It’s funny to me that for all their massive egos, the Altmer are horrible empire builders whereas Cyrodiilics, people they look down and want to impose their rule on, are literally named imperials for a reason. They can barely keep an alliance with the Bosmer and Khajiit (who are more or less forced to be with them for protection) because their populace is largely too stuck up their own asses to pretend to give a shit about the Dominion’s own stated goals. How the fuck are they going to manage a continent-spanning empire centered on a province of Men whose entire culture is built on resisting Elvish oppression? Even just numerically speaking, it’s impossible.
The Elder Scrolls series has been pretty good at highlighting this as well playing with general tropes involving fantasy Elves; namely how unwarranted the idea that Elves having longer lifespans (by like a few centuries) and “sophisticated culture” grants superiority (see: Ayleids and Dunmer especially). ESO takes this up a notch even if it does give out mixed messaging by at some points unironically YAS KWEENing Ayrenn and giving said ESO guilds their unwarranted admiration for her. She is a massive hypocrite who still holds on to her prejudices when, after everything in the AD questline, she should know better.
The totally anti-statist global economic embargo completely abides by the NAP, Freedom of Association and other principles of Anarcho-Capitalism. ‘Why not just remove the embargo to show the superiority of capitalism over communism’? Well, uh… [pinochet_helicopter_meme.jpg]
I’m kind of surprised that the Argentine political establishment hasn’t gone completely off the rocker just yet. Then again, Milei is an outlier (especially in how unabashedly he tails the US) and the Cuban embargo is something that even most right wing governments worldwide vote against.
IIRC they still have some brainworms with regard to things like the USSR and PRC but that’s forgiven considering the alternative.
I hate liberals so much with a passion, it's unreal. I think I should get off Reddit until the election season passes, at least (if not forever). The few actually decent political subs I go to (along with some hobby subreddits) are just not worth it if this is what I have to see every single day.
Should have kept the original dialogue since it still fits.
“This is a perfectly good moment to throw your life away!”
Kicking myself at never thinking of using cornstarch to fry
They took away his magnificent gloved hands in the RE2 Remake smh
Ah, not sure why I assumed otherwise.
And yeah, Chronicles of the Second War looks like a great modernization of the original, as someone who obsessed over Warcraft 2 back in the day. Human campaign is still under development though.
Personally, I think a campaign interface that's the Dark Crusade and Soulstorm campaigns combined with aspects of Total War (like unique buildings suited for that province, separate from the main RTS battle buildings) would be ideal. Could expand the scope to be multiple star systems to really get the "grand" scale.
And by guilds, do you mean Avatar Conquest from TW Shogun 2?
FEAR 1 and Wolfenstein TNO were some of my favorite games of all time so it’s only natural their sequels fell short.
In FEAR 2’s case, while it’s a rock solid shooter in its own right, it’s so obvious just how much it was trying to fit in the mold of the “gritty modern military shooter” that was predominant at the time (especially MW2). Stripping the tactical shooter elements like leaning still irks me.
For Wolfenstein 2, they tried to shake up the gameplay formula of TNO/TOB but the end result was something I was never quite satisfied with. To list some issues, Stealth went from being hilariously too easy to being a convoluted mechanic that I rarely ever used after the first engagement. Them splitting the Assault Rifle of the first game into the SMG and StG took away the entire point of the AR being a reliable weapon that was competent in most situations and replaced it with a useless peashooter (on higher difficulties) and cheesable death cannon respectively.
I’d love to buy Reforged just for the fantastic-looking Warcraft 2 mod but I feel dirty paying any sort of money to reward that lousy attempt of a remake (and I don’t think it’s been cracked). Plus, I absolutely despise Battle dot net, so there’s that.
I remember. Relic saw that people generally liked the first game (and expansions) better but could not stick to a direction and came to an unsatisfying compromise between both. And because of that flop, we’re still resorting to modding DC and Soulstorm.
I’ve been holding onto hope for another shot with the successes of Space Marine 2, Darktide and Mechanicus showing that W40K has a future in games, but RTS as a genre has been mired for the past decade. Relic’s less than stellar reception with CoH3 hasn’t helped.
Actually have been interested to play a reformist council republic like this. Maybe as the People’s Republic of Korea.
The “brigading” (for lack of a better word) of that Jacobin post really shows just how much the very memory of Che fucks with libs and reactionaries. The man was cool in every sense of the word. Even after he liberated Cuba from a corrupt US-puppet dictatorship, he took the fight to injustice all over the world until the day he died, in Africa and South America in particular. His death at the hands of the US-backed Bolivian dictatorship also had the “unfortunate” side effect of his visage being forever ingrained into the world, even within the US. Him being handsome is just icing on the cake.
So, they have to smear him in the wildest ways in an attempt to tear that down in bad faith. It also shows whenever they make up stuff about Che’s attitudes/actions with regard to black and LGBT people, the former of which is especially hilarious because Che was tearing into the US’s injustice and hypocrisy for its own treatment of African Americans at the time.
A bewildering tale of a trashcan hobo's rise to becoming the universe's most effective security software.
It also has Souls-like elements, somehow (particularly in atmosphere and in having optional boss fights with the "Symbols of the World").
Not going to say anything else about the game since I recommend going in completely blind. It's... an experience. Completely sold on the game for when it actually comes out.
Between this, Ashes, Selaco, and Thatcher's Techbase, I'm curious just how many more bangers the Doom modding community has and will produce.

On the plus side, you can avenge Rosa and Karl by turning Germany communist.
You, cringe petit-bourgeois liberal: I hope the Polish Home Army kills more Nazis
Me, well-versed in theory and understanding that it’s wrong to wish death on goose-stepping class traitor proletarian foot soldiers of settler-colonialism: okay fascist

If you loved FEAR or the newer Wolfenstein games like I did, you'll likely enjoy Selaco too. It takes after those games the most (and even bits of other 2000s FPSs like Half-Life 2) despite getting labelled as a "boomer shooter", being chock-full of secrets/references and running on GZDoom.
The base price of 25 USD might seem a bit steep for an indie title and the game is still in EA, but this is the rare case where you'll get your money's worth in my opinion. The now-released first act (pre-update) is clearly an indicator that the overall design, gameplay loop and vision for the game has been nailed down to a T even if they still semi-regularly update it to tweak it further. From the updates, it also seems they actually have a plan for the next two acts to be released by this century (2025 and 2026 respectively).
That all being said, the story elements (beyond visual story-telling and logs/emails) have been left out for now and there's a big story update coming in by the end of the year so you can also hold off until then.
:dawn-salute:
> Tsar Pogromas II may have enforced the Pale of Settlement and directed massacres of Jews at such a rate that even other European powers, themselves virulently antisemitic, were condemning Russia, but compared to the later Soviets who committed the heinous crime of opposing my cherished Bantustan settler-colony and supporting Palestinian statehood, he was a saint!
Damn, maybe he shouldn't have entered the war then !lenin-laugh
Doesn't take too long to find her ranting about "self-hating Jews" either, because of course. The cream on top is that she's also a Shahist Iranian Gusano, living in !ukkk no less, so this is pretty tame compared to what usually comes out of their mouths.
IDK, maybe when more people here are getting screwed over, libs will radicalize and get off their asses instead of trying to guilt us for not giving legitimacy unconditionally to their favorite “lesser evil” bourgeois party.
Of course, using their meager leverage to extract concessions from the people supposedly representing them never crosses their minds…
Also imagine having the audacity to call us privileged when you see what’s going on in Gaza as a “single issue” instead of an escalation of violence by the ruling class that can and will go back to us.
Violence to uproot a US-backed dictatorship which shoves dissidents into mass graves every other week? Unacceptable and unnatural.
Violence to assist an ethnonationalist settler colonial project in eliminating resistance in the ghetto they shoved the indigenous population into for the past 75 years? What violence? Simply is a natural process.
Not even getting into the violence the American state used to entrench itself during its own revolution (against royalists, natives, farmers who want to pay less taxes like the Whiskey Rebellion) and, today, wages abroad and on its own citizens every other day (poverty, imprisonment, police brutality) to maintain itself.
Remember, the “hypocrisy” is the point when it comes to defending Empire. Deep down, they simply believe it’s a team sport.
“My tax dollars going into ruining that country so yeah it is an "our on issues"”
“other than america funding Israel how tho??”
Is it normal for communists to feel as dismally about the people of their own country as I do now?
TIL, after years of playing Stardew Valley on-off, that Pierre apparently has quite the (well-deserved) hatedom.
OOTL: Protests happen outside of synagogues holding sale of stolen Palestinian land. MSM outlets, right and “left”, react predictably. This was under a post pointing it out.
On the ad itself, I can’t help but wonder what goes through the hollow skull of a thin-blue-like MAGA hog who thinks the Jews George Soros is funding “antisemitism” while also controlling the Democrats bending over backwards for Israel because… reasons.
!iww !big-bill !malcolm-checks
For those of you who have been hearing about Selaco for the past few weeks: yes, it's as good as people keep saying it is, though YMMV since it's very much tailored towards people who like 90s/00s shooters and immersive sims (and modern indie games in the same vein). That said, it's oozing inspiration from other games like through atmosphere and music (Halo ODST, Resident Evil, etc), which all fit its somber tone relative to the usual boomer shooter fare.
I could also say it plays like a more agile Wolfenstein TNO with ImSim elements which hits all the right notes for me.
There are few beings as Hitler particle dense as a Finnish or Eastern European NAFOid who bemoans Ruzzian imperialism but firmly aligns with NATO and Israel. Also includes current “pro-democracy” Georgians.
To be clear, Western liberals asking their governments to blockade or outright militarily intervene against Israel are very naive (even if their hearts are in the right place), but the Zionist posts I've seen in response to that trend are something else entirely. I don't think even South Africa and its supporters pre-Cuito Cuanavale were self-deluded enough to think they could survive being blockaded (much less hit by NATO strikes a la Yugoslavia).
I guess we're going to be seeing a lot more Endsieg posting as Israel pushes the envelope further.
Genius move trying to deflect blame to the guy Biden is willing to pit the "free world" against the ICC for, after sending him weapons in bulk every other day.
Fr, I'm wondering if Blue Dog liberals will ever come to understand that treating the people they are trying to "win over" like imbeciles who don't have access to a 24/7 news stream through the tiny computer in their pocket isn't "the strategy".
Sure is a wonder why Israel has so many friends from the likes of Bolsonaro and Milei supporters.
Inb4 liberal Zionists find the tweet and talk about how Israel is a pluralistic liberal democracy which needs to let the “right fringe” (ie. The Israeli Overton window) have a voice and that extends to all its overseas supporters.
It's funny to me how even in this game (Red Alert 1) where they portray the Soviets as back-stabbing, baby-gassing monsters using everything in le old Black Book and then some, they still can't get me to root for the Allies as anything other than a marginally lesser evil. Guess this line supports that.
“Oh no, big bad Georgian mustache man is going to oppress the poor underdog Europeans? How horrible! Say, what’s going on in the rest of the world in 1950…
