rust takes AGES to compile literally anything. also the compiler on i686 requiring SSE2 instructions is a massive thorn in my side as a old computer user and is the primary driver of my hatred of rust lmao. it gets in my way quite a lot since rust has creeped its way into a lot of open source projects these days

I own a 199x honda integra with 25x,xxx miles on it, its a phenomenal car and runs fantastic, but god damn if it sometimes doesnt throw the strangest issues at me. many of which stemming simply from the fact its over 25 years old and parts age and degrade.

from my experience tinkering with it years ago the OG pinephone has awful performance due to its very old SoC. No matter what distro or GUI i used it was unbearably stuttery and slow even just swiping through the home screens.

the pinephone pro theoretically should be a lot more modern and performant (its also more expensive), but i dont have one yet so i cant say too much on it

all the laptop OEMs are marketing "thin and light" nonsense that all it does is make interfacing the device more of a hassle and also burn your legs off easier.

i will never let go of my 1.25 inch thick chonk-top with multiple full-size ports
