  • With this community migration feature, Piefed seems like the sensible choice every time a community needs to move now.

  • Ah fuck of course they've gotta try ruin this too. Definitely good to know, even if just to look out for.

  • It was like that when I stole it.

  • Nothing. You'll have to pry it out of me. Unless we're talking about social media, in which case I think I have a bad habit of saying too much.

  • Would be awesome if there was a way to do this with user accounts as well. Especially with news like this, that's a missing piece of this federation business. Because even once you've settled on lan instance, there's no guarantee it's going to stay open long term. And it kinda sucks on the user's end to lose all your comment and post history like that. And saved posts.

Not that I blame that on any admins, I can understand their decision. Just riffing about the user experience here in the Fediverse. If you can re-index communities and posts therein, that gives me hope that you could potentially do that with a user account.

  • Some of these, some of the time, not all at the same. And I think that can depend on if I've had my morning coffee yet or if I'm having one of those days where I don't want to get out of bed.

  • That's awesome! Out of all the people I've interacted with here, it's hard to think of anyone better for this job. Thanks for making this place brighter. And that is an adorable selection of bunnies indeed!

  • Immediately thought of this thread when I saw this:

  • I tried Tumblr out briefly not long ago, finally. And I guess I've missed the good days? The place feels a little too much like a shopping mall as opposed to what I was expecting. These tumblr memes always gave me 'old internet' vibes but what I saw was a lot closer to modern Facebook style.

  • I would hesitate to wish tooth related pain on my worst enemy.

  • Nope. But that's just because I'm wayward and perpetually broke. If I had my shit together I for sure would because it's been one of my main sources of information through the years, whether it's an interesting article or lists of things to collect / watch / listen to. And it's not enshitified or tacky and provides information in text form and not video form. So if it stays that way, the magical future me that is finally financially stable definitely will.

  • Hey, just wanted to say / suggest, if you or anyone else here is looking for fun content to post in this community, you should check out reductress.com, it's basically an Onion / Hard Times style website but particularly focused on women.

Edit: apologies for the deleted comment, it was a double. Either my network or this new instance that I'm on have been awful the last two days.

  • Not using it but I'd probably use it for a Lemmy app tbh. The average Lemmy app seems to have way more useful features than the vanilla desktop experience. Other than that, probably just games, although it's not like the same selection on Android is exactly stellar.

  • The really funny thing about Spez is that he's far from a power player in the tech scene, nowhere near the likes of Musk and Zuckerberg. But he so desperately wants to be that he actually just looks sad and pathetic in the process.

Wtf is he going to do with his stockpile of motorbikes during the apocalypse? Start a Mad Max biker crew? What a fkn loser lol.

  • This was basically the answer I came here to say. I immediately thought of all of the stories I've read about people throwing game controllers and punching TVs and it's fine because mommy and daddy will just buy new shit for them. If I did that sort of shit with my second hand Mega Drive then I would've kissed good bye to any childhood gaming.

Same goes for these parents that will smash up their child's computer as punishment or something. Absolute spoilt fucking brats with no appreciation for the things their money buys, raising the next generation of spoilt brats.

  • Yeah I like the idea behind this but the fact that out of the 12 months, this was the month that was chosen for this is fairly eyebrow raising. I'm all for men becoming better people and freeing their minds, having their own liberation movement. But then someone has to come along and specifically choose pride month for this, just making it look bad all over again. It's like men can't be happy unless it involves taking away someone else's happiness.
