  • Not to mention that, in a place like a public park, 55F water is totally fine. It isn't the coolest most refreshing drink of all time but it's damn good from a public fountain on a 90F day.

  • Google announces April 2024 shutdown date for Google Podcasts
  • As a former Google Play Music user and lover, it was the recommendations. I haven't found another service that shows me even a significant fraction of the music I like that Google did. I've switched to Spotify but it constantly recommends songs I've already heard or don't like and the shuffle feature gives me the same ~50 songs from a large playlist. It's something I've accepted but I miss the Google recommendations deeply.

  • Pluralistic: "If buying isn't owning, piracy isn't stealing"
  • It's not so much a rebuttal, but ask if they think stealing has any relation to depriving another person of something. Imo, they have a correct, though extremely narrow, definition of stealing that doesn't leave any nuance for comparing different kinds of stealing. Piracy, or as they would say 'stealing digital media' is not a kind of stealing that deprives another person of that thing, so clearly it's somewhat different than stealing money or physical property.

If they aren't willing to entertain that there are different kinds of stealing then they're ignorant of reality and it might not be worth your time to try to change their mind.

  • What hobby seems boring to most people but is actually fascinating if you dive into it?
  • Not OP, but personally I own 4 or 5 different keebs and I like swapping between them for different reasons. Sometimes it's just because they're different colors/lighting options and I want to switch up the look of my desk, other times it's because I want the feel of a linear switch for long bouts of typing for the feel of a blue switch for precise feedback in gaming.

I think of it like knives in a kitchen. Yes, you could just use a very nice chef's knife, but knives come in all shapes and sizes for different applications.
