Isn't the absentee part by design though? I'm pretty sure it was designed that way to minimize waste. The legislature only meets every other year for about 5 months, Seems like the absenteeism is a feature... I get it that it sucks during a natural disaster. See the meme above though.
IPO was it for me as well. Once something goes public, the enshitification begins in earnest. Reddit users better be ready for their user data to be sold by the board, there will be more ads than ever, and I'm predicting people will start getting doxxed in about 2-3 years. Never mind the fact that AI is already making the lion's share of the posts to farm karma for reasons that I don't even understand.
I returned to the US for the first time in 4 years last month. When I left the US a Tesla was a novelty. You'd see them occasionally, but they didn't have any real market share. When I returned last month it would be hard to drive ten minutes without seeing one.
