what is the worst case scenario that can happen at the presidential debate?
  • biden stammers twice, but otherwise is impeccable.

cnn lobs nothing but softballs to the orange one. still screws 'em up, goes off on tangents, spouts nothing but lies, rages about everything. declared the 'winner'.

  • Q: Do I need Geforce Experience to make use of "Game Ready Drivers" (Nvidia)?
  • 'optimizations' and fixes targeting specific games that nvidia does are in the drivers themselves.

what geforce experience does is mess with game config files--and it really isn't that great at it, either.

gfe is basically just a data gathering and marketing tool. i've never seen a point or purpose for the user. it benefits them far more than you, and can mess up your own game settings.

    leave it uninstalled.

  • Trump Says Foreigners Who Graduate From US Colleges Should Get Green Cards
  • there's also a fair number of students and graduates from certain countries or related to certain peoples that he might want to help in exchange for who-knows-what.

the one thing that is certain, is he isn't proposing it for the benefit of 'immigrants' or 'foreign students' or even for the betterment of america.. but rather, for himself. it's always about him.

  • This is getting out of hand! Now there are more than 3 of them!
  • the local theater (we had one in our town) kept star wars playing (and only star wars) for a year. it wasn't until around grease and jaws2 that they played anything else.

same thing happened for the other two films of what became the original trilogy.

basically turned me off to the whole 'franchise'. all the films star wars kept from me as a small town kid by being on eternal repeat in the only theater accessible to me at the time.

i did see the original first three films--one time each, the first week of their initial runs.

    but none since.

  • Campaigns Can Now See What You Watch on TV.
  • that's basically what i had. a cheap laptop for a 'streaming device' and media player with a k400 keyboard with trackpad. connected to a monitor to start, then a cheap tv. don't have a 'media server' though, just a pile of hard drives (externals, or internals with usb adapter or 'dock').

the tv eventually did get hooked up to wifi but i only use it for a couple 'free' apps that require no signin and work through pihole ok. mostly the 'tv' is playing a random playlist.

  • Why is compact mode 'not supported'?
  • it used to be visible as an option in 'customize toolbar'. it was deprecated and deemed 'unsupported' way back around v89, but at least they kept it available as a 'hidden' setting.

i use it on every pc i have firefox installed on (which is, well, all of them that aren't 'terminal only').

  • HP bricks ProBook laptops with bad BIOS delivered via automatic updates — many users face black screen after Windows pushes new firmware
  • we've had clients have their dell systems bricked from bios updates. it's not just hp.

at least dell (reluctantly) offered free repairs, even out of warranty, on those models at the time. 'repair' being motherboard swap plus shipping both ways if not covered by an onsite warranty plan.

i still have one of those 'repaired' systems here. user gave it to us years after it got fixed. it just sat, unused, once they got it back as they bought a new one due to the lengthy turnaround they were quoted.

  • Biden administration sets 50 miles per gallon fuel economy standard for 2031
  • Automakers prefer not to produce or sell smaller cars because it doesn't make sense for some reason

    it's mainly two things:

automakers and their dealers make significantly more profits off of big cars and trucks,

and then also the typical buyer mindset that 'bigger is better'.
