win10 LTSC it has literally no bloatware and extremely stable
  • Had no problems running LTSC for several years while using game pass, just had to enable the store and grab a couple official packages. Alongside MAS it’s a nice replacement for people not willing to switch to Linux. While I no longer have any windows machines at home, I have setup friends and family with LTSC and they have all been happy with it.

  • 4th rule
  • Store them in a colder spot. I personally like freezing them. Wrappers always come off cleanly.

  • Hiiiiiii!
  • Yes but also it’s encrypted!

  • anybody else pace endlessly when working from home?
  • Only while on phone calls or waiting for the microwave’s last 90 seconds so it’s too short to go back to my desk and too long to hold the handle and watch the last second tick to done so I can open it right away.

  • I ordered my daughter a pizza, something I don't usually do. I got Domino's smallest size with two toppings. I got her cheese sticks and two sauces and tipped the driver 20%. $31.07.
  • This is why I always get a Costco 18" pizza for $10 every time I'm at the store. Yes, the pizza quality is not great, but neither are any of these other chains that charge 3x (or more) for less pizza of similar quality.

  • Apple Intelligence Features Not Coming to European Union at Launch Due to DMA
  • But what does that matter when the platform has plenty of competition? This is what doesn’t make sense to me. Google chose to allow other app stores. That’s a feature of the platform. Apple chose to not allow sideloading or other app stores, again, as a feature.

Who is forcing people to use Apple devices?

Why doesn’t this extend to other platforms like Nintendo or PlayStation whose stores are explicit features of the platforms?

  • Apple Intelligence Features Not Coming to European Union at Launch Due to DMA
  • This is what never made sense to me about this argument.

Who exactly is forcing people to buy iPhones? How is the platform anti-competition when there’s loads of competition all around it, in equally as large numbers?

The walled garden has always been a feature, a selling point. And people choose to adopt it or not.

Can you explain better how the logic in your argument above goes, with that in mind?

  • [Framework News] Introducing a new RISC-V Mainboard from DeepComputing
  • Holy shit! I did not see that coming. I just got the mainboard case to convert my fw13 so it can be stashed away on my homelab for some ancillary services. Assuming the price is right, I’ll have to consider grabbing one to put in my now-empty laptop! Very exciting.

  • They’re coming (with labels) for your gas stoves
  • Ok? Which part of what I said was irrelevant in your mind?

  • They’re coming (with labels) for your gas stoves
  • You can literally put your hand directly on the surface of an induction cook surface while it’s on. You can also place it on the surface within seconds of removing the hot pan of food that was cooking.

  • They’re coming (with labels) for your gas stoves
  • What you’re describing is likely more about your familiarity with finessing temperatures through gas heating where you can move the pan around and temper with some learned skill. Induction cooking is the most efficient and fastest by a significant margin, due to the lack of losses. In a side by side comparison, gas cooktops are the slowest to boil water, despite being able to reach the same temps as you state. Even flat top electric stoves are faster and more efficient. This is of course all about choosing the right method for you and not the speed / efficiency in a vacuum, as long as people are informed with the most up to date information.

  • Apple reportedly has plans for a thinner iPhone, MacBook Pro and Apple Watch
  • Honestly… in my opinion hdmi needs to die. DisplayPort is superior in every way, especially when driving from thunderbolt/usb4. We are so close to one port for everything, even if we have to continue dongle hell for a while longer.

  • Tailscale running at full force during the night?
  • PiVPN is the easiest way to use WireGuard imo. Even has QR code generation right in your terminal emulator. It’s nothing more than a few simple scripts that wrap the server functionality but I’ve been using it for years.

  • Tailscale running at full force during the night?
  • Same with WireGuard, 1% all day every day.
