Bundestag votes against Taurus missiles for Ukraine, supports sending 'necessary long-range missiles'
  • German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is reportedly against sending Taurus missiles to Kyiv because he fears the move will draw Germany into the war.

They're still arguing that nonsense... Putin won't care about anything. If Germany doesn't supply enough weapons, they'll be dragged into the war in a worse way.

  • The biggest problem with Frontiers for me is that there are some handy survey articles that are cited like 500 times. It seems that Interdisciplinary surveys are hard to publish in a traditional journal, and as a result 500 articles cited this handy overview article for readers who would need an overview.

The article I checked was in a reasonable quality, and it's a shame I can't cite it just because it's in Frontiers.

  • Supreme Court prepares to kill same sex marriage in America
  • I'm from Japan, and they don't even have judges as corrupt as SCOTUS and still don't allow same sex marriage because the ruling party is conservative. Well, the court ruled it's unconstitutional, but we learned that a law in this country can stay unconstitutional if the government ignores the situation.

Makes me realize how broken my country is. It doesn't even qualify as corruption because it's lawful. Fucking hell...

Well, the court ruled it's unconstitutional, but we learned that a law in this country can stay unconstitutional if the government ignores the situation. And apparently 90% of the people (at least on the internet) support that because they are conservative.

I think the author just looked up statistics to reach a conclusion convenient to them.

Just ask the actual people. (Why didn't they do interviews?) There are so many details lost in their cherrypicked numbers. Prices, wages, housings, they are very bad according to what I read online, contrary to what the author argues citing average growths. Maybe they have no grasp of reality anymore?

The video is bombastic, even by Mr Trump's standards. Just consider the title: God Made Trump.

How the term “genocide” is misused in the Israel-Hamas war

I used to like The Economist, but this is Nazis propaganda right on their page.

    > > > Israel, by contrast, does not meet the test of genocide. There is little evidence that Israel, like Hamas, “intends” to destroy an ethnic group—the Palestinians. Israel does want to destroy Hamas, a militant group, and is prepared to kill many civilians in doing so. While some Israeli extremists might want to eradicate the Palestinians, that is not a government policy. > >

This is not okay. This is Nazi logic. Nazi, fascist logic, from The Economist.

Even Nazi Germany did not make killing the official "intention" or government policy in my understanding. At least not always. It was announced as a safety guarantee, for example.

Website Not Working: Support the Armed Forces of Ukraine

So, I wanted to donate my money to Ukraine through this official government link. However, it doesn't accept my money. I've tried two credit cards and they are both refused. The time it takes to show refusal is very quick, indicating that the website rejects my cards before accessing the credit card company.

Is this a known bug? Or maybe they don't take donation from my country?

Generative AI Policy Must Be Precise, Careful, and Practical: How to Cut Through the Hype and Spot Potential Risks in New Legislation

Anxiety about generative AI is growing almost as fast as the use of the technology itself. Some of these concerns are reasonable, and some are fueled primarily by dramatic rhetoric from prominent figures in tech, entertainment, and national security. Something, they suggest, must be done to stave off any number of catastrophes, from destruction of human authorship to the creation of new robot overlords. Given the often hyperbolic tone, it might be tempting (and correct) to dismiss much of this as techno panic or self-interested hype. But there are legitimate concerns in the mix, too, that may require some rules of the road. If so, policymakers should answer some important questions before crafting or passing on those rules. As always, the devil is in the details, and EFF is here to help you sort through them to identify solid strategies and potential collateral damage.
