What DEs are people using?
  • Just keep the config file(s) handy and always be playing with them. Join IRC #sway@Libera. Oh...and you can use the majority of the i3wm docs outside of anything doing with output or input. While I love man pages...I prefer web content for my docs.

  • URNs(Uniform Resource Name) for federated objects?

Has anyone thought of resurrecting the concept of URNs for Lemmy/Federated content? I just ask as it seems as one way to start thinking about reducing the link rot caused when something like imgur or gfycat goes private or offline. As it stands...a ton of lemmy instances brought up in the last few weeks will be gone in a month.

Something like an URN would be useful if there was some concept of 'super-federation', where two or more instances of the same service chose to cross-store data

Browsers don't support URNs currently, and the lookup/registry system would be potentially vast and full of duplicates, but it seems worth thinking about.

  • Sway. I look around every few months but nothing usually, um, erm pendulates my interest. I have hyprland installed...but my config file breaks with every update, and it's rice first, function later. I'm an opposite-ricer. I like to strip all decorations.

[Kobo] With Pocket removal, what alternatives are you exploring?

I think the title says it all.

I saw a mention of an Omnivore integration I might check out, but it depends on Pocket still at least existing in the OS, and I would prefer to stay up to date. That and I am already proxying the Store through Calibre-web.

    Basic Bike Maintenance
  • These. Basic Bike these days just don't need as much daily maintenance. 😿

Biggest outside case I am always paranoid about is a loosening headset or bottom bracket. If you ever notice any knocking up front fix immediately. Chris King headsets seem to have also removed this small piece of bicycle maintenance tho.

Do not pressure wash your bike! You will end up degreasing all those fancy sealed bearings.

  • New book July 2nd!

I just started listening to the audiobooks for the first time in preparation.
