NFL Speaks Out Against Harrison Butker's Controversial Speech
  • The 28-year-old Butker then took aim at President Joe Biden's policies, including his response to COVID-19, which has killed nearly 1.2 million people in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

that's one way to arrange that set of words, wtf. how many other millions are dead because of Biden that this story isn't telling us about?!

  • I turned off the you-filter so I can show you how easy it is to filter out whatever you like, be it whole instances, communities, or users.

spam is whatever an individual deems it to be. if 90% of posts from the last week are from one user, I call that spam. I don't want "content" for its own sake. I prefer quality or originality over quantity.

side note: reddit stomped the individualism out of their users, the very source of their success. like others have said here, I'm not interested in seeing posts from there copied to here.

I'd like to see more engagement and interaction on here, I want this place to grow, but I also don't want this place to only try to imitate the reddit board. I'm sure I come across as 'old man yells at clouds,' that's fine, whatever. however, I think most people here would agree that there needs to be a balance. why even come here, if everything is copied and regurgitated from reddit?

  • don't I recognize you from somewhere? you're so familiar...

I mean, c'mon, he's a dead ringer for the classic dark forestmen. not that I'm complaining, can always use more medieval characters!

Dinosaur poop is now officially Lego canon
  • then you're going to have to get the police station modular, because the jail cell toilet has pee and poo pieces in it. and the Ninjago city markets also has the first working Lego toilet.

sorry if my knowledge drop costs you an extra $600.

  • great details in the floors and walls. the longer I look, the more I appreciate.

actually, the longer I look, the more I appreciate original posts. this recent explosion is borderline spam. we're one step away from being flooded with people posting pictures of boxes. time to test these filters.

  • 49ers win vs packers!!!
  • the dropped pick 6 that should've been...

purdy made so many bad decisions, and escaped with zero consequences.

love hits his receiver in the hands (or was it tipped?) and it gets picked. SF got out-played all game, and is lucky to have faced a team that had to rely on a rookie kicker with the most missed kicks all year.

    truly the game of inches.

    oof

  • Browns are beside themselves. Driving around downtown Cleveland begging (thru texts) Flacco's family for address to Baker's home

    that's it, that's the post.

if you're surprised at the lack of effort on my end, then you'll be blown away by how Philly played in their game tonight against Tampa Bay. never seen an entire team so collectively uninterested in being in a game, let alone a fucking playoff game.

the Bucs' receivers did make a valiant effort to keep the game close with all the drops. 6 in the first half, iirc.

Pete Carroll out as HC in Seattle [update: staying on as team advisor]
  • fuck. don't know how to feel, as I love what he's done for the team, but also feel like the team has become somewhat limited and stagnated the last few years. I love that man, but I'm also excited for the future.

  • I do sometimes forget...
  • loving this thread here and (most) everything in here! as a tiny ass farmer, that shit doesn't surprise me. I'll try to keep this comment specifically focused on an issue we've had with "farmer's" markets:

used to sell at a couple of em before covid, since then, we only sell on-site at our little shop. one of the larger, better markets a few years back starting letting this distributor begin selling at market, masquerading as one of us. they even wore fucking shirts about promoting local blah blah. they weren't from the area, they buy up bulk stuff (often not in season), then set it out in these pretty baskets like they just got done harvesting it that morning.

people would line up to buy their shit, while the 4-5 actually local ops that are honest and give a shit had to stand by and watch. tried to get the market organizer to care, of course they didn't. but, hey, people can take pics of their brave treks to the Local Farmers Market to post on the socials, so they can hear how great they are at supporting small businesses.

if I sound bitter, it's only because I kinda am 😂 carry on, love y'all who look below the surface and go out of your way to build community!

  • Week 18 post-game/season thread/check-in/submit complaints here
  • two of the losingist teams ever.

one helmed by the QB that the browns threw away, shortly after not only making the playoffs, but beating a divisional rival, at that!

the browns have never been to a super bowl. well, when moved to Baltimore in the '90s, and then won one... then about a decade later these "new"-browns won another... led by Joe Flacco.

there are many interesting stories with each matchup every year. but this... it being a possibility not in week 10 or 11, but in the playoffs! it's fucking transcendent, imo.

  • Week 18 post-game/season thread/check-in/submit complaints here

Yo, where's the weekly game thread?

guess I'll make one, so get in here and celebrate your team making it to the dance, or bitch about the sorry ass state of your team, or maybe they did as well as could be expected, and you're happy with the season.

Cleveland @ Houston is probably the most interesting matchup, to me. Pittsburgh @ Buffalo sounds fun. My favorite aspect of the game between Green Bay @ Dallas is that, by Sunday night, there is a guarantee that one of them will be eliminated.

I guess it's only fair that Green Bay kept Seattle out of the playoffs this year, after week 18, 2022. That said, ftp.

10315 Tranquil Garden is one of the best sets Lego has ever released, change my mind! (Also, what have YOU built recently?)

That's all, nothing else to this post. Why am I posting this? Is this an ad, a review? I don't know, but the entirety of the build, the pacing, new elements, everything is wonderful.

If you're into the botanical or architecture sets, or just want a display piece that looks great from any angle, I cannot over-recommend this gem. Plus, finding it for under $80 new (~30% off $110 msrp) isn't too difficult; I found one on eBay for $70.

    75329 SW M-Tron M-Star Tronch Ron MOC

been thinking about getting this set, but didn't want to spend the money, so I made it with parts I have... and made it infinitely cooler by implementing the M-Tron color scheme!

Don't think too much about the specific ships and colors and how they relate to the films; I know that part doesn't make any sense. but it's cool, imo.

Some more pics (as always, which apps will display all 5 images? who knows!):

What are you currently working on? MOC TALK, show us what you got

so, what are y'all working on? a few months back, I decided to build 6085, the Black Monarch's Castle. I always loved that set, but didn't have it when I was a kid, so I built it with the parts I have. then I modified it with some more modern touches, like the cheese wedge crenellation (yeah, that's not very modern, it's all relative). then I decided to expand. then expand more and more, to the point where it is now, with a very similar size and shape to the Ninjago city gardens.

    staircases! !

    elaborate brick work! !

    modularity! !

The nightmarish Kniiiiiiiiiiiiight Bus [OC] [MOC]

What happens when you buy too many (or just enough) of the same set, and have no choice but stretch and exaggerate the original frame to comical proportions.

Someone suggested I mod it into a cube-shaped bus, and I really like that idea. Might get to that lil project some day.

Hope this post gives someone a laugh. I had a lot of fun working on it. Still have enough bricks for a few more levels.

What else should I do with this monstrosity?!! With a slight moderation, I think the bus will fit through the garage door rollers. So, comically tall, absurd garage to house this abomination?

(looks like I can add more than 1 pic to a post now, hooray)

Star Wars meets Blacktron I and II [MOC] [OC]

Earlier this year I was inspired by the most recent X-wing polybag, and created a whole series of adaptations of similarly scaled Star Wars ships into classic Lego themes. I posted them to reddit, but they've since been deleted. I'm moving them here. What do you think?

8 Stud (near) Perfect Transparent Cube

!Uses only two 8x8 trans-neon orange plates, and a bunch of 1x2 trans-red bricks. Aside from the exposed studs on the one plate, it's a perfect cube. Just don't go rolling it like dice!

Kinda unrelated: Thought I would use this to make my first Lemmy post. Still kinda sad about all the reddit nonsense. I miss Boost.

Now why does this sub have so little activity? I know this is new and young and growing, but... Come on! Guess I'll start posting some of my MOCs to help this space take off!

edit: still figuring out how to use this, specifically how to post a gallery rather than a single image. I've used Thunder (not too bad) and Connect (pretty shitty, tbh), but not any other apps yet. Anyone here have a favorite app so far?
