  • If the provider supports either m3u links or the xtream codes api, it's going to work for pretty much any IPTV player. Most video players will only support m3u links. The template should be out soon with all the necessary info (including EPG support). Thanks for the feedback.

  • Thinking about this a little more, I think it might be easier for everyone if I provide some kind of template that they can easily fill in with the relevant details. This is simpler for me as an admin to manage, simpler for providers and potential customers can easily see what is on offer. Thanks for the idea!

  • How I discovered 4K IPTV (Yes really, the resolution is 2160p).
  • Personally, I would prefer element or signal, as suggested in the posting guidelines: https://lemmy.opensupply.space/post/1

But most of the providers have been operating on discord/telegram for a while and are unwilling to make the shift. They have their reasons too, I guess.

  • Yes. Right now, it's listed in the posting guidelines: https://lemmy.opensupply.space/post/1

But I suppose I'll have to enforce it.

  • The 4k ones are all in the community

  • I understand why you think that might be the case, but I've set up the community such that you can't create a post unless you are approved by an admin. Approval here means that your service needs to be vetted before you can post. The whole point is to find quality providers and share reviews, if we allow anyone to post, the community would be overrun by low effort spammers in no time.

Also, see this comment on why I'm hesitant to share the spreadsheet.

  • How I discovered 4K IPTV (Yes really, the resolution is 2160p).
  • I'm a little hesitant to post the spreadsheet, since most top-tier providers don't want their information posted publicly. I reached out to each provider to ask them if they would be willing to have their service listed, what you see in the community are the providers who are comfortable posting publicly. A few more (about 6) will be posting soon, the rest have really poor quality (you can find these guys on the first page of google) and have been rejected from the community.

The community also allows providers to post updates, subscribers can discuss and give feedback, which in turn helps other folks. I think building a good quality repository of community contributions will pay off long term.

  • Just now realizing that not all the posts are showing up on this instance. I might be the only seeing this, or maybe I haven't configured the federation settings properly? Does anyone know how I could get everything to sync?

EDIT: They are now showing up for me (We are federated y'all!)

  • How I discovered 4K IPTV (Yes really, the resolution is 2160p).

For the last 2 months, I've been reaching out to every single IPTV provider I could find online to compare their services. After trying out close to 30 services and ranking them in a spreadsheet, I was surprised by the huge gap in quality. At this point I started to get curious, I thought, "How good can it really get?"

Turns out it can get pretty good. Eventually I found a handful of providers with real stable, 4K (2160p) sports streams at 50fps with full PPV and F1 TV coverage. Obviously, they are a little more pricey at around $15 for a 1-month sub on average. But it's worth every penny if you ask me.

I thought it would be cool to have some kind of public directory, or I could just share my spreadsheet, since this information is really hard to come by on the internet. But a directory grows stale over time if it's not constantly updated. Also, there's constant pricing changes, providers pop up and others disappear, lots of scammers to avoid, and people may have valuable additional info to contribute.

So I set up Open Supply and invited a bunch of the providers to post. There are only a few providers here currently, but the list will be growing. You can check out the IPTV Subs community here: https://lemmy.opensupply.space/c/iptv_subs

    OR

    Search for it: !iptv_subs@lemmy.opensupply.space

This took a lot of work to set up, if you happen to try out an IPTV service in this list, I only ask that you come back and leave an informative positive/negative review for other people who'll come along in the future. Thanks!

Also, is it possible to get this community officially added to the megathread? I think this info is super valuable.

EDIT: For everyone asking for the spreadsheet to see the 4K providers, all the best 4K ones are already in the community, if they are not, they will be posting soon, just join the discord/telegram and ask them for a free 24hr trial and get streaming. Remember to leave a review after you try them out.

    Rules

    • You must be approved by an admin to create a post.
    • Advertising or commenting under another provider's thread will result in a temporary ban. Multiple offenses will get you banned permanently.
    • Do not post any direct links to your streaming server or individual streams.
    • Do not comment “bump” or other phrases to fake activity in your post. Do not repost the same content in the comment threads. These kinds of comments may make your post rise to the top, but it does not provide any useful information to the reader. It will be considered as spam and you will receive a temporary ban.
    • Sending private messages to users is strictly forbidden, except in these 2 scenarios:
      • The user sends you a private message first.
      • The user leaves a comment on your post asking you to send them a private message.

    Guidelines

These guidelines are suggestions rather than rules. They exist for the benefit of providing the most relevant information to readers in a clear and concise way. This way, you can avoid answering repetitive questions which eventually end up looking like spam. A secondary goal is to preserve people’s time when they are looking for specific information such as trial availability, channels list or pricing. Lastly, keep in mind that people visiting this community may have poor eyesight or suffer from reading disorders, try to be considerate.

    Here are the guidelines:

    • Write in a clear, readable font.
    • Avoid writing in all caps or using fancy fonts.
    • Use special characters only when necessary.
    • Use emojis sparingly.
    • Avoid posting poster images that contain text about your service. Instead, write it down.
      • This is important to enable people to discover you through searching.
      • Search engines such as Google, Bing or DuckDuckGo will not recognize the text in these posters. Therefore, your post will not show up in the search results.
      • The fonts and color contrasts may make it difficult for some people to read.
    • Try to anticipate common questions people might ask and include the answers in your post. Some examples are: pricing, accepted payment modes, channels list, VPN compatibility, device compatibility, trial availability.
    • Go for simple instead of fancy. If you can make it simpler, you probably should.
    • Do not misrepresent your service offering. For example, if you say that you are offering 4K streams, the resolution of the streams should be in 3840 × 2160.
    • Avoid using slang such as ‘zap’ or other terms. Some people visiting the community may be new to the world of IPTV and they may not understand these terms.
    • Specify how people should contact you. You are free to use any means, but we generally recommend using Lemmy's private messages or secure messaging services such as Signal or Element. Discord is great for managing communities, but it offers limited privacy. If your discord server gets terminated, you will lose the communication channels with all your members. If you must use discord, make sure to back up all your members’ info regularly.
    • Use the EDIT button. Edit your post over and over until you are satisfied with the wording.

If you need any help crafting a good post, or you just want a second pair of eyes to take a look at your post, please DM the admin @burnt_toast@lemmy.opensupply.space, we are always willing to help out with this task.
