Gaza: Hundreds of thousands are starving as famine arrives at ‘incredible speed,’ UN aid chief warns | CNN
  • Also they sent a couple of official internal memos telling their soldiers to plz not genocide (lost among the flurry of not-to-be-taken-seriously official calls for genocide) so that proves they're totally not genociding. Also, something something this court has no authority.

    Checkmate.

  • Swearing is becoming more widely acceptable, linguistics experts claim
  • A smile?!??! Well I never! A smile at such an occasion signals a shocking lack of gravitas and must be avoided at all cost! One wonders what second rate boarding school you attended where wanton smiling went unpunished.

  • 100 gecs rule
  • The main worry here is that Bernie only seems to (openly) support 20 of the 100 total confirmed gecs. And that's not even beginning to factor in the purported existence of up to 10,000 gecs, as some researchers have claimed.

  • Stupid HDD question - case puts pressure on it [solved]
  • It's full. I think I'll just go with this setup until I eventually replace it with an ssd. Was cheap and I needed a bunch of capacity for and easy access to audio and video files that I'll keep backed up elsewhere anyway. Might put in a pad like another commenter suggested, or just keep the top screw of the panel undone. Was mainly worried I was being a huge dumbass but seems like things will work out well enough

  • Stupid HDD question - case puts pressure on it [solved]
  • The slightest bit of tension, but not enough to permanently bend it. It bulges out maybe a couple of millimeters when closed and screwed on. Just didn't know if the drive would suffer because I have no idea how well they tolerate pressure. But good to hear, thanks, that puts my mind at ease!

  • Stupid HDD question - case puts pressure on it [solved]

Hey, quick question that I'm too dumb to know the answer to and can't seem to find any info about anywhere.

I just got a 2.5" HDD and put it in the dedicated place in my Fractal Meshify C case. It's on the side, and there really isn't enough space for it - the drive is too thick for the panel to come back on normally. When I put the panel back on the case it pushes right up against the drive and the panel clearly isn't flush with the case.

Is this an issue? Or will the drive be fine?

Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake | Official Trailer | Max
  • I dunno, the Fiona and Cake episodes just never resonated with me. I watched them the first time around but after that they were insta-skips. But like I said, I'm happy for the people who are excited because the world is one of the best ever and more adventures there are a good thing. I'll give it a go for sure and hope to be pleasantly surprised

  • Default sort

I don't know if it's happening to other people, but for me connect is defaulting to Top All sort whenever I open the app to my front page or when I view a community. I always change to top 6 hour, but it never stays that way after navigation.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

It's right in the name, MAGIC
  • There's been a bit of a global jpeg shortage lately since most jpegs are grown in the Mokri Yaly River Valley in Ukraine. I don't see how we could realistically expect full jpeg until 2025 at the earliest if I'm being honest

  • [BETA] Connect 1.0.96 Released
  • Love how quick you are to fix things and how far the app has come since I got it two weeks ago! Amazing. I'll make sure to throw you some support once payday rolls round!

That said, I don't love the way the comment icon has been lately. The button to post a comment and the one that takes you to the comment section of a post are too close to each other. It was perfect before it changed, right now it makes going to comments something that fails every two or three times which is kinda annoying.

Also, I've posted this before but my two main gripes are the way the back button takes you app the way back to the comments, instead of retracing your website steps, and the fact that when you return to the comments they've all reset so you have no idea where you were. I would love to see these fixed!

Now to round out the compliment sandwich: thanks so much for the link pop up that's now there and tells you where you're headed. So good.

  • [Feature Request] Link behaviour

Firstly, sorry if I'm making any mistakes in how I'm posting this. I love the app but there are two main issues that bug me and they both pertain to external links.

Let's say I followed a link to a Wikipedia article, and within that article clicked a link to a second article. If I then press the back button (on the android bottom bar), it takes me all the way back to the Lemmy comments, not to the previous article. It would be much better if it just took me to the previous page I was on.

Also, now that I have been returned to the comments, they are completely reset. It would be much nicer if my location in the comments were preserved, as well as all collapses, so I could seamlessly continue from where I left off.
