Risky Buisness
  • I mean yeah probably if it communicates who im talking about and why im talking about them. Theres lots of times when ill be talking about an actor and refer to them by the name of their character because i either cant remember or dont know their name, or because its more recognizable for whoever im talking to. But hugh jackman also has other accomplishments that he is known for and that he uses to further his career, its not just him marketing himself as 'wolverine' which is kinda the whole point. If he had never acted in anything else and did livestreams in his wolverine costume and personally sold wolverine merch and had a podcast called wolverine talks then definitely i would call him the wolverine guy. But also acting in a movie is a much bigger accomplishment than being a living meme.

  • And im saying its not at all accidental when she hired a publicist to promote 'hawk tuah' and named her ppdcast 'talk tuah'. Its the identity shes chosen to adopt in the name of fame so she can lie in the bed shes made.

  • Risky Buisness
  • Are you serious? She brings a couple hundred dollars worth of animal food to a shelter (on a live stream) and you think thats actually something notable? She definitely got more out of the publicity and ads than she even spent making that video. Thats literally attention seeking behaviour. And yes, 99% of internet personalities are also attention seeking individuals. Anyway this discussion isnt worth my time, im not gonna give her another seconds thought.

  • Risky Buisness
  • She gave a three second interview that went viral, that shes now desperately trying to spin into merch, tv interviews, a podcast, and whatever else she can attach the 'hawk tuah' brand to. Thats pretty desperate. Shes like the new 'cash me ousside' girl, and i think its a gross side effect of our media and celebrity obsession that we shouldnt be glorifying or even humoring.

  • Risky Buisness
  • I dont want to know her name. I literally could not care less, until she does something worthwhile. For that matter, i wouldnt even ever refer to her as 'hawk tuah' if we werent having this conversation because shes really not worth talking about except to crtiticize her desperate attention seeking behaviour.

  • Risky Buisness
  • I mean shes the one making it her entire personality, and attempting to publicize and monetize it as much as possible. Its not like a cruel nickname pushed on her by the media, she's actively making it her brand/identity.

  • I love England rule
  • As a not english perspn id say the horrible religion in England isnt only christianity, but more a mix of imperialism, monarchism, and a rigid caste/class system. Like how american exceptionalism and unfettered capitalism is for the US.

  • PS5 firmware update renders several games unplayable with severe graphics issues
  • I mean not really. Even if they have a rough idea of how many times their game has been pirated by looking at seeder counts on torrents or whatever, theyre definitely not taking those numbers as a win and saying "look how many people didnt pay for our product, that just proves everyone really wants it". Theyre comparing sales numbers.

  • Kamala Harris Refused to Meet With Uncommitted About Gaza — and Uncommitted Refused to Endorse Her
  • The only leverage you have as a voter is to not commit too early. Show that youre willing to support kamala no matter what, and she wont move an inch on her policies. But if polls show her starting o lag behind, regardless of how people will actually vote when push comes to shove, the maybe, just maybe, shell make some concessions, like not supporting genocide. All of these "never trump, blue no matter who, kamala girlboss power" voters are just throwing away the only chance you have to actually maybe sway things in a better direction.

  • Most instances are still federated. Really?
  • I probably would vote for her. But i also wouldnt attack people raising legitimate concerns, and i would try to put as much fucking pressure on the democratic party to stop fucking around as i could, which means not unconditionally supporting them no matter what they do.

  • Most instances are still federated. Really?
  • Im not even on hexbear but i see it fairly often. Im also not american so maybe that gives me some different perspective, but do you really not get it or are you just being obtuse? Kamala and biden are actively supporting a genocide, and thats not even hyperbole. Theyre sending billions of dollars of weapons. Its not like they just wont publicly condemn israel, theyre explicitly and outright supporting them. Say that trump would be worse all you want, but the nazi association seems obvious when you considee that theyre actively supplying weapons to a genocidal regime.

  • The Plucky Squire recently came out, and used the Steam Deck to represent PC
  • Add a keyboard, mouse and monitor, which are already required for every other pc, and you can do everything on the steam deck that you can on any other pc. The steamdeck just has the additional functionality of working without those if you so choose.

  • Fuck a vape I got a new full proof plan:
  • Used to be way cheaper in canada when you could buy the 100mg juice in bulk. A years supply for my vape would be like 50bucks. Now theyve made the max 20mg and added all sorts of new taxes. Its like they want people to smoke. It's still cheaper than smoking but my price per year for my partner and i is up from 50 to around 450, for no good reason besides tobacco manufacturer pressure._

  • God of War Ragnarök - PC Launch Trailer
  • Somebody else also said it but the steam deck is amazing. Mid level pc performance that can handle almost all new games, and you can use a dock and have it set up just like a console. I use mine all yhe time with bluetooth ps4 controllers. Much bigger games library+being able to emulate so many older consoles makes it a no brainer i think.

  • Craaaawling in my skiiin
  • I listened to the first three albums (inlcuding reanimation) obsessivley when i was a kid. I think those and the live in texas album are the only cds i still own, for nostalgias sake. Ive recently been going over the albums ive missed though and though they arent start to finish bangers like the old ones, theres some really good songs still.

  • question about "synchronic displacement" in TNG 'Times Arrow'

So in this episode they go into a cave, and can read some sort of energy field, as well as Troi having a sense that there are lifeforms present. Geordie explains that the people must be displaced in time, but only by a few milliseconds. If that's true, how is there not overlap? Say the people are a few milliseconds ahead of the enterprise when they arrive, shouldn't they appear a few milliseconds later, as they still would have had to be 'present' during that time? I don't understand how they would be consistently invisible if time is a dimension like space that can be traveled through. Some past (or future) version of them would be present regardless of the desynchronization would they not?

Please if anyone could help me understand or shed some light on this I'd appreciate it.
