Schwarzenegger: ‘Climate change dialogue’ not going to work
  • For context.. he says we need to address the cause..

“We want to do the same thing here. I think this whole climate change dialogue is not going to work. I think this has been used for the last few decades,” he said, highlighted by Mediaite. “I think we should address it directly, what it is, which is pollution.”

“We want to terminate pollution. There’s the message we should get out there,” Schwarzenegger continued.

In the past, Schwarzenegger has dubbed climate change the “most important issue.” In office, he promoted clean air and energy policies.

  • These 25 rainbow-flag waving companies donated $18 million to anti-gay politicians since the last election
  • Not trying to side with businesses (Yuck) but was it about other issues where these politicians were pro business? I mean if you are trying to avoid antigay politicians... you might run the risk of missing out on the majority who have significant power to sway policy making..

  • He is the one to talk!

Edit: to clarify... he is right on this one.. but him breaking with other conservatives when it doesn't matter is a convenient way to launder his reputation without doing anything.

  • Don't work for big companies. Try to go small studios or Indie. Although I guess this advice is actionable only for people who don't have any commitments.

But what other way is there apart from these? Maybe switch industry and go into pure software?

  • If you were offered knowledge of exactly when and how you'll die, would you take it? Why or why not?
  • A lot of people definitely would take it. This might be the time to confess their love to a lifelong crush, punch their bully in the face, save up and complete their bucket lists, etc.

Death focuses us on what's actually important and meaningful for each of us.

  • Cars Are Slowing Down in European Cities
  • Good. We need less cars on the road. The main problem is that every car is just single or double occupancy. We need a major policy shift away from car centric planning. This I recognize is going to be a fight against auto manufacturer and by extension oil companies. But we need to do this now for our future.

  • L.A. County wants to cap rent hikes at 3%. Landlords say that would push them to sell
  • Maybe the point is such a system that only works on numbers is inhumane and should be avoided? Economics people want to argue within economic frameworks which don't work well if some assumed market conditions don't exist. I have never seen reality work quite as described when free market breaks down and MNCs control government policymaking
