  • You may find that all the extra attention to details as water temperature or precise pouring pace may be unnecessary for you, at least at first. I was intimidated too, especially for the equipment, but then I started brewing using a normal kitchen scale and a stove kettle without thermometer, only relying on the boiling point, and I have to say surely I have less control over the final result but still I enjoyed very very good cups of coffee So I’d suggest you to just give it a shot doing your best but without unnecessarily hassle and improve your technique a bit at time

  • Actually I did it one time, but every response I got was in English even if the user was a Japanese speaker. So I started worrying that the translation was incorrect, even if it was specified that I wasn’t a Japanese speaker. I wonder if maybe, especially in the Fediverse context, Japanese users might be pretty used to English and Latin alphabet in general so that it may be easier to them if I just write using the language I actually know in order to avoid mistakes

  • Fediverse @lemmy.world

Is it rude to reply using English under posts in a language you can’t speak?

  • This might come quite late but thankfully will be helpful for others.

I just had the same issue on my instance, I solved this by selecting Undefined in addition to English in settings > languages

I’m not sure but it seems like unselected languages from that list are filtered out. I’d rather prefer to see everything so maybe the best thing would be to just select them all but I’m not sure
