Hardware recommendations for 24 drive truenas server
  • Haven't decided yet might do 3 vdevs with raidz2.

I have some asrock boards I tested with ECC and a 1st gen Ryzen and they work but might go with a server mobo/cpu if I can find something affordable and energy efficient. Only using this for storage so don't need multi socket or powerful cpu.

Hardware recommendations for 24 drive truenas server

I was looking for the Supermicro 24 bay 4u chassis recommended in the hardware wiki. But I'm not seeing any affordable options on ebay so now I'm thinking to go with the 36 bay chassis and only use the front 24 bays. This also means the motherboard/cpu section of the chassis will be 2u.

What HBA would be good with this case and truenas?

What should I use for the motherboard/CPU/RAM? I have a few cheap ryzen desktop boards that work with ECC RAM, but thinking to buy something that might be more reliable.
