Campaign to Discredit Monero

I've been seeing more and more evident hit pieces on XMR on social media, starting with the article by Greydinamics on May 17th, but just look closely at the memes and comments coming up on social media, "Monero, invest in underground crime" and other stupid shit like that...

I strongly disagree with advertising or using xmr illegally. Of course you can use any of the following for terrorism, crime, drugs, etc: your car, the internet, your computer, a screwdriver, your phone, banks, cash and so on... But that doesn't mean that's the main use, and advertising any of the stuff just mentioned as "only used by" or "intended for" criminals is beyond stupid. This is what 1984 sytle regimes use to brainwash sheep and use its people as unknowing, unpaid agents that act on behalf of these institutions.

This is an invitation to anyone who uses Monero for freedom to fight against this (likely agency or institutional) campaign promoting XMR as a tax evasive, terrorist, drug inducing coin. They're playing us, don't fall for it, Monero can be and is used for buying legal items, living a moral life. It's just sovereign money, that's all.

Concerned about my friend who’s a Bitcoin maxi
  • You can do all kinds of mental gymnastics on why bitcoin is the one and only coin, and it will probably go up in value because banks are adopting it. However I decline to have anything to do with that surveillance coin, it strayed far from its roots.

  • I made a short and easy to follow guide to buy Monero for newcomers + a lot of free privacy tools
  • Probably a good idea, thank you, I wanted it to be minimalistic, not too much information, but I might divide it at the bottom and place those places to spend. I will also definitely add those to my homepage, with all the other tools. Thanks again.

  • I made a short and easy to follow guide to buy Monero for newcomers + a lot of free privacy tools

I see around 5 or 10 posts a day on "How do I get Monero now that Localmonero is gone?", I thought I might add to my website a very simple guide that's easy to read and follow. I'll leave it out there in case you find it useful. Plus check out the rest of the site, it's really simple, but I wanted to make a sort of repository for free or mostly free tools to guide newcomers to the privacy space, not only Monero. You might already know most of the tools, but it's intended for beginners. Any pointers on how to improve it welcome!

Eyes open: Some accounts on Dread and Twitter are (I can only deduce) being paid to bring down competing exchanges, a dangerous trend
  • I'm not pro anything, I use it often and once I had an exchange stuck, I reached out and support helped me with no issues. What I like about it since you asked, is its low profile, the litecoin you send gets MWEBd, and you get sent mwed ltc, and if I had to bet on which exchange would never ask you for kyc, it's those dudes.
Hope you found this helpful. I just got into this rabbit hole because I saw something I didn't like in XMR in reddit and dread.

  • my site is not online yet, no idea what you mean. Yes, digging into some comments on Dread. Check out localnoderunner for example. The dude has bashed any comments about majestic for years. 3 weeks ago he said it was a scam site, etc. Yet yesterday he posts "I just lost hundreds of dollars on Majestic". Kinda stupid to use Majestic if you're so convinced for so long it's a scam, in my opinion. But he and londonknives actively smear Majestic. So does tuxpizza on twitter. I think somebody is paying for them to talk shit and invent stuff.

Try this, post any slightly positive comment about majestic in reddit or in dread. Anything. I bet you it will not go through. Mods are in on it.

I've witnessed accounts first bashing Majestic Bank, then a few weeks later saying "I just lost hundreds of dollars in an exchange there, I got scammed". I'm refering to localnoderunner, but there are many on Twitter, and some more on Dread I've witnessed are in this behavior. Who is behind these accounts? I'll tell you who gets hurt, the Monero user.

Also, someone posted about Majestic in this forum and a day later you get an article with mostly speculative criticism. Someone is being paid to divide the community. Keep your eyes open.

    All majesticbank scams & lies.
  • There is something here for everyone to open their eyes to... Majestic bank has often been accused of exit scamming, of disappearing, yet they remain offering an acceptable and anonymous service, try and exchange $20 or $2,000 bucks or whatever and decide for yourself. Who is behind the smearing and dodgy information? I can think of a few exchanges and some other groups.

Disgruntled employees exist. Even questionable decisions, but from this to accusing them of being wiretapped (how would you have that information, OP?). It is shameful for tabloid style news to be around when we do need players that push Monero like Majestic and other anon swaps. It seems like you can't be prominent without having some rocks thrown at you.
