This is also why Republicans are adamant about destroying our educational system. A sucker born every minute isn't enough to please the shareholders these days

We apparently have all kinds of money to dump into domestic terrorism but we ain't got shit when it comes to healthcare, education, climate action, infrastructure, emergency planning/prevention...

The next line in the article sums up the situation though:

Funny thing is, once upon a time i would have simply assumed that to be the case. Boy was i naive!

It's so cool to see this pop up here--i went there with my wife several years ago and we were absolutely stunned by it's magnificence and sheer scale. I plan on going back someday and spending an entire day there knowing what we're in store for. I had been given a recommendation to check it out by a local who ran a log cabin lodge that was about 1/2 hour or so from the House. That place really blew me away, glad to know other folks are out there appreciating it too!

That carousel was insane, not to mention the amount of animated instruments and nickelodeons scattered about... The living quarters were so cool, if a little impractical. You could have the coolest parties ever in that place...

The anecdote was part of a New York Times piece on Saturday entitled “Inside the Long Friendship Between Trump and Epstein.”

It states that “For nearly 15 years, the two men socialized together in Manhattan and Palm Beach, Fla., before a falling out that preceded Mr. Epstein’s first arrest.”

The piece goes on to describe Trump hosting “a party at Mar-a-Lago for young women in a so-called calendar girl competition, Mr. Epstein was the only other guest.”

This is exactly the way I've been viewing it--they're liquidating all the assets of this country and selling off what remains for whatever they can negotiate. Even carving up national reserves at this point. This is exactly like all those leveraged buyouts we were witnessing a decade+ ago.

All the regulations and laws that kept their grubby fingers off all this stuff are long gone now, and the work it would take to restore them will never be completed before the damage is done... even if they could it would take many years to rebuild what was essentially dismantled in a series of months.
