Can someone from the US explain , like I'm a 2 year old, how it is possible to pass a piece of legislation as part of a completely unrelated piece?
I.e. If they wanted to not block TikTok would they have had to block the whole bill from passing , so no aid?
I've been running Fedora39 Workstation on my laptop for the last 3 months as it couldn't upgrade to W11 and for purposes Linux gives me everything I need.
I run Gnome with KDE Spin and OpenSuse KDE on Boxes, as I wasn't sure what I was going to stay with.
But following the seamless update using dnf on both Gnome and KDE I'm sold on Fedora going forward, i never expected a version upgrade to be so straight forward on Linux and so far, fingers crossed, everything still working.
Has the death sentence been a deterrent for any crime?
Pineapple and apple go well in pasta salads. Again not at the same time but the added sweetness and texture helps enhance the salad.
I had a similar issue with Mint on my Latitude 7480, ended up using Fedora where everything just seems to work.
Best advice I can suggest is always use a live USB because if something doesn't work there it won't after install either.
We had Latitude 7480s which also didn't support Windows 11.
I purchased my old one for a steal and it's now running fedora quite happily.
One businesses loss has been my gain.
It's here.
For Huawei , if that's the case why did US not target all Chinese manufacturers and only the one that, at the time, was becoming the most technologically competitive one.
As for EV the argument regarding takeover as a wartime industry whilst maybe true not it still smacks of US protectionist practice rather than a genuine security fear.
They did the same to Huawei and lots followed. This has nothing to do with security and all to do with preventing China's leap ahead of US as a global economic technology powerhouse
I'm looking to replace my Garmin Vivoactive 4 and most likely with Xiaomi or Amazfit. I'm currently struggling with the dilemma, I've narrowed it down to the following: Redmi Watch 4 - cheapest option but reviews suggest buggy and not that accurate Xiaomi Watch S3 - reasonable cost, long battery life running HyperOS Xiaomi Watch 2 - the new one not the pro, runs WearOS so battery life not as good but overall more feature rich Amazfit GTR4 - must expensive and mixed reviews Anyone owning these watches with real world experience I'd love to hear your take on them.
No editing. The Florida night sky seems different from anything I've seen before in Europe.
If I even tried to plug a USB into my laptop security would be down on top of me like a ton of the proverbial .... the same way that the only true way to be secure is don't plug into the internet the only way not to piss off corporate is don't f*ck with their stuff.
One of the many reasons I won't buy Samsung.
Apple may think they're complying with the letter of the law but I suspect the EU will feel they're falling far far short of the moral of the law.
Yes , the same way almost every other browser does. My tablet is my desktop replacement I don't want a bloated phone browser I would like a desktop experience.
All these new features, I'm sure are great.
But when, oh when, will Mozilla start supporting tabbed browsing for tables and foldable devices.
It's the one thing stopping me from swtitching.
I have an oldish Dell Latitude 7480 which doesn't meet the requirements for upgrade to Windows 11 so I thought I'd take the opportunity to install Linux on it as I only really need it for day to day web stuff / studying / media and light gaming.
My first choice was Linux Mint but, for some reason it would not recognise that the laptop had a wifi card. So I tried Manjaro but felt Arch wasn't for me so opted for Pop_OS and whilst everything I want works I thought I'd use the time to distro hop live environments to see what else was out there.
I know live envs doesn't give you the full picture but to be honest I was more interested in the aesthetic appeal of the DE.
Where my curiosity lies is this, from my understanding Linux Mint is based on underlying Ubuntu as is Pop_OS, so how come both Pop_OS and Ubuntu recognise the wi-fi card out of the box so to speak but Mint doesn't.
This is the wifi card in question:
description: Wireless interface product: Wireless 8265 / 8275 vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:02:00.0 logical name: wlp2s0 version: 78 serial: cc:2f:71:ec:52:b1 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list ethernet physical wireless configuration: broadcast=yes driver=iwlwifi driverversion=6.6.6-76060606-generic firmware=36.ca7b901d.0 8265-36.ucode ip=192.168.1.6 latency=0 link=yes multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11 resources: irq:131 memory:ec000000-ec001fff >
And with this in mind, does anyone have any idea how to get this wi-fi card working with Mint, I'm assuming I need a drive which the other drivers have but Mint, for whatever reason, doesn't have.
Update:
I thought it would be easier to edit the post than reply to you all individually and thanks to everyone who took the time to respond so quickly.
I've just re-tried with the latest version 21.3 and it all works, maybe by newbie brain did something wrong with the first install.
I'll probably stick with Pop_OS as it does what I need and I quite like the Gnome interface.
But again, thank you all for your input it's awesome to know that swift help is available for idiots newbies like me.
Probably because the brown envelope wasn't think enough.
I'm sure for the right "incentive" they'll happily cooperate.
Good to hear, I've not had any issues so far. The only "niggle" I've had is when pairing my Bluetooth devices I've needed to turn Bluetooth on and off for each pairing bit once done they've reconnected fine.
What especially galled me was as I was updating my laptop before flashing to Linux the new outlook will not work unless edge installed, I had just uninstalled that pile of garbage.
Ah well, at least pop_os works great 😃
Thanks. Finally after Mint didn't recognise my network adaptor I tried Manjaro (everything worked great, but I don't think I'm ready for Arch) so ended up on Pop_OS .... everything works so I'm going to stick with this for now.
I've noticed a distinct degradation in speed on lemm.ee since the upgrade.
The website seems fine but any app appears to struggle with the lemm.ee site.
The only exception appears to be Voyager app and it may be that as a web app it doesn't appear to have the same problem.
Jerboa can't login, says can't connect to instance, this is not a specific v19 issue as I have an account on reddthat.com which is also running v19.0 and that logs in without issue.
Voyager struggles to load my profile.
I migrated here from fmhy and then feddit.uk after it appeared to be abandoned, I'd really not like to migrate again but it's starting look like that's the only option ;-(
First of all the upgrade removed my pinned contacts and apps, so I had to start the game of whack a mole all over again. The default suggested apps and contacts were apps I never used and people I never contact. You get 5 options now instead of 4 which is ok, but you can’t have two rows of favorites...
This I actually learned today from another user's pain post about Android 14.
I've been using Android phones for about 5 years and had no idea ¯\\\(ツ)\/¯
