I'll post it after going home.

Half of that memory is being taken by the GPU as visible in Firefox task manager.

I checked it out and the main culprit is the GPU usage. I made a performance profile for graphics and uploaded it to Mozilla's server for their review.

I haven't seen an ad since the time I installed uBlock Origin from Firefox store.

Seems true enough. I'd go with a paid VPN subscription as an extra precaution.
