What is a low technology you really love ?
  • the doorbell is inside my house, the spring and pulleys too, he only bit exposed to the outside is a lever you pull to make the contraption move, it is kinda like the launcher on a pinball machine

  • Sega Saturn Slim: The Classic Console, Reimagined for Today’s Gamers
  • there's the charm of playing in original hardware without having to deal with the original storage medium.

There are better alternatives to CDs, might as well use them. It is no different than using a flashcart.

  • A Plan
  • I personality know two very liberal women who married right wing nutjobs, the first one married a full MAGA, proud boys type militia and election denier guy who she thought she could change him (she couldn't).

The other one thought that political differences didn't matter in a romantic relationship (it did).

    Both ended up in divorce.

  • 71-TiB NAS with twenty-four 4TB drives hasn't had a single drive failure for ten years — owner outlines key approaches to assure HDD longevity
  • The NAS owner said the 4TB HGST drives have only accumulated 6,000 hours since their deployment, translating to about 600 hours or about 25 days annually.

I thought the NAS was being turned off on the weekends or overnight, but in reality it has under 7% of uptime.

  • Trump says he would deport Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, "back to Venezuela"
  • two options, either he is making an appeal to emotion of ignorant people who doesn't know that Haiti and Venezuela are two different countries in different continents, or he himself doesn't know that Haiti and Venezuela are two different countries in different continents

  • People who have those extra fold out laptop monitors, are they any good?
  • I got a portable monitor heavily discounted because the HDMI port was broken, but I only wanted to use it over USB C so I was OK with it.

I'm quite happy with it, I don't use it everyday, but whenever I need to travel for work it does come handy, for example, when working from an hotel room.

I've also used it with my Switch from time to time, works great too

  • Can somebody solve this puzzle?
  • I tried then first N characters of my password until I found out the threshold was at 8, then I tried with the first 8 chartacters of my password and then random junk and it worked.

I also had two friends in the same bank to validate

  • Can somebody solve this puzzle?
  • a previous bank used to have a max password length of 8 characters, then proudly announced that they will increase it to 32

Then I made a typo at the end of my password and it let me in anyway, and I realised they were just trimming the first 8 characters to give the illusion of security

  • If you could regulate something relatively inconsequential, what would it be?
  • I absolutely agree with you. My former flatmate didn't like to use the dishwasher because according to her, it wouldn't clean the dishes properly. Yet she would load the dishwasher by stacking the plates horizontally... as you would store them in a cupboard

  • Also caviar
  • same with quinoa, price went up so much that people started cultivating it outside of its native south America and then the price plummeted so bad that it caused financial devastation among farmers
