Federation problems?
  • The latest "welcome" post has come through and updated. Other older posts are not up-to-date, and there's at least one missing.

  • Federation problems?

I'm still getting some federation weirdness, but this issue seems to be to do with general federation rather than particular actions.

    This community: https://feddit.uk/c/lemmydirectory@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Refuses to update! Some posts have been edited but the edits don't come through. New posts are added but the only way I can get them to come through to feddit.uk is to search for the full original URL.

Is there an issue here? Or is it just being very slow?

You can now create shields.io subscriber badges for Mbin!

    Example: !Mbin

You've been able to do this on Lemmy for ages. It should also work on kbin as long as it has been updated enough to include the API.

  • No, it's not that, even if I subscribe and tap on the community on the left it displays wrong.

I think it may be showing "all", which means it's the same or similar bug as the post before mine.

  • 196@lemmy.blahaj.zone

If you try to call up 196 it doesn't display - instead it seems to be lots of lemmit communities.

Completed: Upgrade Downtime today: Postgres, 19.4, 19.5
  • Thanks! Did @Emperor@feddit.uk speak to you about the rate limiting? Since the upgrade I've been rate limited on my own account which hasn't happened before (I was getting it with bots when I spoke to Emperor previously). The limit seems to be set to one post every 15 mins, which seems a bit low.

    19.4 upgrade
  • No worries, it's definitely better not to rush these things!

  • 19.4 upgrade
  • I didn't twig it might be upgrade related. I tried to mod an account on 0.19.4 and it didn't federate back, and I've changed descriptions on communities on 0.19.4 and they aren't federating back either (two different instances). Seems OK with 0.19.3 so I'm making a bit of an assumption that it's the version mismatch, but I know Lemmy has had issues with federation across versions before. I can't even force it to fetch a post on lemmy.dbzer0.com which didn't federate. (https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/22446189 if you want to try - I search for it and it doesn't do anything, whereas that would normally pull it down). I checked the blocked instances on all the servers and nothing relevant is defederated as far as I can tell.

London-born teenager to become a saint after miracle recognised by the Pope
news.sky.com London-born teenager to become a saint after miracle recognised by the Pope

Carlo Acutis, who was brought up in Italy and who died of leukaemia aged 15, has had his second miracle recognised by Pope Francis.

London-born teenager to become a saint after miracle recognised by the Pope

    > A London-born teenager is set to become the first millennial to be made a saint after he has had a second miracle attributed to him by Pope Francis.

    > Carlo Acutis, who died of leukaemia in 2006, aged 15, was beatified in 2020 after appearing to have cured a Brazilian boy, Mattheus Vianna, of a serious birth defect which left him unable to keep down his food.

    > That miracle, which dates back to February 2014, saw the boy being "fully cured" after he touched Carlo's relic and said "stop vomiting", a priest and family friend of Mattheus's said.

    > The second miracle saw a girl from Costa Rica who was studying in Italy reportedly being healed after suffering a head trauma.

    > She was reportedly cured by the boy after he was invoked by her mother, Avvenire, the daily newspaper of the Italian Bishops' Conference (CEI), reports.

    > Pope Francis took the decision to attribute the second miracle to Carlo during a meeting with the head of the Vatican's saint-making department, Cardinal Marcello Semeraro.

Mum's shock as sex toy, knickers and lube left near son's grave in Doncaster cemetery

Mum's shock as sex toy, knickers and lube left near son's grave in Doncaster cemetery

    > A grieving mum has spoken of her shock after finding a sex toy, knickers and lube dumped near to her son’s grave in a Doncaster cemetery. The woman, who has asked not to be named, says she discovered the items close to headstones in Doncaster’s Rose Hill Cemetery – and decided to remove them to avoid upsetting other grieving families.

    > She said: “I don’t know if they had been used in some kind of sex act or left by someone as some sort of strange tribute but either way, its not the kind of thing you expect to find in a cemetery.”

    > The mum said she had been tending to her son’s grave when she noticed the sex toy a few metres away. She said: "There was this bright pink vibrator, a pair of grubby knickers as well as some Ann Summers lubricant.

    > "It did make me feel a bit queasy as I pushed them into a plastic bag I had used to bring my son’s flowers in, but I just didn’t want anyone else finding them and getting upset.

    > "I know people sometimes put things like cigarettes and drinks bottles on people’s graves as unusual tributes, so I wasn’t sure if it was something like that.

    > "But to me it looked like they had either been left there as a joke or someone has been having sex in the cemetery. Whatever, its not very nice for people to see when they are going along to visit their loved ones’ graves is it?”

    > The mum says she has since disposed of the items.
