Authors problem.
  • Libby is 100% compatible with kindle, has been for years. It's the first prompt immediately after you check out the book; it asks if you want to read it in Libby, or have it sent to your kindle. I'd definitely recommend it, it couldn't be more seamless.

  • I love people with kids who are oblivious they're shitty parents.
  • An elective surgery you call it, an investment in their vision, I call it. Not everyone has vision as part of their insurance, and contacts/glasses/exams can get expensive without (or even with, depending on the policy). Viewed in that way, LASIK can definitely be seen as an investment.

  • Men losing their mind
  • I actually mentioned that in a comment above. Reddit used to be just as bad, if not worse indeed, but that doesn't excuse Lemmy by any means. I do hope that it's a good indicator that Lemmy will get better with time, though.

  • YouTube diluting my recommended videos feed with AI-generated “music” that pretends to be made by an actual artist
  • So tangential storytime: my husband recently discovered one of these channels (not sure if it's this one or just a similar one), and specifically this goddamned song called "I glued my balls to my butthole again." He will. Not. Stop. Playing it. He thinks it's fucking hilarious, especially the more I roll my eyes.

Anyway, yes these channels are a blight, something needs to be done about them, and if anyone needs a husband they can find mine on the curb blasting that song on a loop lmao

  • Men losing their mind
  • The undercurrent of misogyny is so so rampant on Lemmy, worse even than reddit was. Posts like this bring it right out. I can't believe how many upvotes some of these red-pill-ass comments have. It's really discouraging to see and often makes me too nervous to speak up on women's issues here on Lemmy, lest I be absolutely brigaded.

At least the bear can't use a keyboard and thus wouldn't be able to try and bully me into shutting up on the internet, so there's another instance where I'd choose a bear over a random man.

  • Black man found dead against tree with rope around his neck in NC: 'Not a lynching,' sheriff says
  • Just like internalized misogyny is very much a thing in women, internalized racism is a thing, too. It's sort of like a poor person aligning themselves with the rich against their own interests, if that's easier for you to visualize. All that to say, I agree with the other commenter— that cop is blue.

  • Australia plans a minimum age limit for social media use
  • Heaven forbid we fix the actual problem, the exploitative nature of the sites themselves. No no, let's control the kids and keep them off certain websites instead, that's always worked so well before.

  • Marcus Aurelius rule
  • He wrote this for himself in his Meditations. So he wasn't telling this to anyone but himself, therefore not 'gaslighting' anyone. Beyond being a roman emperor, he is also a pretty respected philosopher, and that generally doesn't happen without having something interesting to say on the subject.

  • Taylor Swift endorses Kamala Harris
  • I personally think the company you choose to keep says a lot about you. There's being polite with your partner's friends and then there's being all over someone like a bestie. It's amazing how well her PR machine works that she gets white knighted so much, even on Lemmy. May I remind everyone that she is a billionaire and didn't get to be one accidentally. She's just as bad as the rest of them, she just pays people to make her seem not as threatening, and it's clearly working based on all the free defense she gets on the internet.

She's not your friend. Arguably, she's Brittany Mahome's friend.

  • Taylor Swift endorses Kamala Harris
  • Idk, the recent pic of her chummy day/night out with Brittany Mahomes planted quite a bit of doubt for me. There was a lot of speculation after those pictures released that she'd come out for Kamala, to get ahead of any backlash.

  • My son is due in a month or so, and I just finished the hat he'll wear home from the hospital!

The pattern is this one! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-bear-hat-8

I made some adjustments, like starting with 8 rows of ribbing, then doing two kfb increases in row 9, before doing the rest of the pattern as described. I also picked up 10 stitches instead of 8 for the the ears, because of personal preference.

I was able to finish it in one evening, and I'm thinking of making another for his cousin that will be born just two months after him :)
