What is the superior voting methodology? To whom does each alternative benefit
  • You can also carry out a vote where you choose the party for the proportional vote, and then rank the members of that party. And the party assigns the seats they win to the candidates with the widest support.

That doesn’t solve the issue of people liking candidates from multiple parties though.

  • A military plane carrying Malawi's vice president and 9 others has gone missing
  • Totally fair. Glide certainly gives more options, and much more time to assess the situation. Plus helicopters don’t really fill a transportation niche that most people need anyway. Fixed wing is dramatically more practical in the vast majority of scenarios.

  • Well maintained, modern helicopters are generally pretty safe. I get that they stay aloft by beating the air into submission. You can land most helicopters even with an engine failure though. You should check out auto rotation. It’s wild, but you can make a pretty reasonable landing as long as there is some space to put it down.

  • A bit of a weird question: Can modern medicine be a threat to humanity long-term by greatly reducing effects of natural selection?
  • Natural selection isn’t the only thing at play though. That solely refers to the organism best adapted to the environment being more likely to survive and produce offspring. Essentially everyone in our population survives to be able to produce offspring.

Sexual selection plays a much bigger part now. That isn’t someone being the most adapted to the environment, it’s someone being the most attractive to a mate. There are plenty of adaptations across nature that are maladaptive to survival, but are selected for regardless.

Then there are random mutations and genetic drift. Those happen in every population. That is more just a matter of chance.

We have found ways to adapt to our environment outside of evolution. So we no longer have a significant natural selection process.

  • A bit of a weird question: Can modern medicine be a threat to humanity long-term by greatly reducing effects of natural selection?
  • Agreed. Plus it is a satire. It was making a point. It wasn’t required to be factually accurate through the entire movie.

My disagreement was that there was any evolutionary downward pressure on human capability. We can do increasingly dumber things without it being a genetic change. Propaganda, indoctrination, and selective access to information can play a huge role in how people develop and ultimately behave.

  • A bit of a weird question: Can modern medicine be a threat to humanity long-term by greatly reducing effects of natural selection?
  • I’ve seen it. And less educated/poor doesn’t mean genetically less intelligent. And even if it did, all that means is a change in the average gene distribution. A large enough portion of every population still reproduces that we are unlikely to dead end any major gene variations. So we still maintain a diverse gene pool, and if something happens to make natural selection play a role, we still have enough variation to adapt to changes.

  • A bit of a weird question: Can modern medicine be a threat to humanity long-term by greatly reducing effects of natural selection?
  • Pretty much everyone here either misunderstands how evolution works, or is willfully ignoring it to push their viewpoint.

Humans at this point have very little evolutionary pressure from natural selection. We aren’t getting weaker, shorter, taller, or anything like that from natural selection because those traits aren’t killing people.

The main driving factors for human evolution are sexual selection, random mutation, and genetic drift. There are still some poorer areas disease may still play a not insignificant part, but even that is fairly minimal since people largely live to reproductive age.

Human evolution has been fairly stagnant for quite a while. The differences most people would notice are from changes in diet, environment, and other external forces. For natural selection to pressure evolution we would need to have a significant portion of the population sure before they are able to reproduce.

  • Helldivers 2 now has the most negative reviews among all paid games
  • If it makes you feel any better, one of Arrowhead’s community managers specifically said to take the anger to steam. It makes it very public that people are unhappy, and it’s more likely to get Sony to change the policy. So the devs are aware of why this is happening, and it appears that to an extent at least, support the negative reviews

  • List of countries that cannot make a PSN account, following the Helldivers 2 controversy.
  • Is the entire game a mode or feature? If it’s not then you can fuck off with that argument that it doesn’t say you don’t need it. If you’re a Sony PR person you’re bad at it. And if you’re not, then you have a weird obsession with siding with shitty corporate behavior.

  • List of countries that cannot make a PSN account, following the Helldivers 2 controversy.
  • A gold bullet amongst other gold bullets, in a section that not everyone is going to look at. For a game that is sold globally when PSN is not available globally. This is anti-consumer behavior strictly meant to increase corporate power in the interest of corporate greed. Why defend Sony and their shitty behavior? This doesn’t help gamers. There is no benefit.

  • List of countries that cannot make a PSN account, following the Helldivers 2 controversy.
  • Directly from Sony. It may be required for certain modes or features. Not for the entire game to function. Even the EULA that you agree to for the game says nothing about requiring a PSN account.

I still don’t know why you’re so determined to back Sony on their bullshit that is anti-consumer, and is actively harming the gaming community.

  • List of countries that cannot make a PSN account, following the Helldivers 2 controversy.
  • The requirement was a small bullet on the Steam page. And Sony’s own website says a PSN account is not required. So Sony has said both things, and for three months it was not required. There is also no actual functional need for the account. Additionally the game studio has said that the countries where the game was sold, but PSN was not available is an issue they are looking into. I don’t understand why anyone is defending this move from Sony. The users gain no benefit, and there is an obvious negative impact. So maybe stop sucking off corporations?

  • Over 100 far-right militias are coordinating on Facebook
  • Largely because the left is less interested in hating and killing everyone around them over irrelevant differences. There are many armed leftists, they just don’t cosplay government overthrow or post apocalyptic warlord on a regular basis.

Also, have you ever tried to organize anarchists?
