  • No worries, I'm a mod on !buyeuropean@feddit.uk community. Not an admin on .world or feddit.uk, just a feddit.uk user that is also a moderator of buyeuropean@feddit.uk

  • No, I'm not new. This account is new because you can't use mod tools properly if your account is on a separate instance from the modded community (e.g. you don't get reports, can't sticky stuff, etc).

And you also might not actually see the whole discussion going on here since you are on lemmy.world due to defederation between lemmy.world and other instances and so. I'm just reminding everyone to keep it civil since this community has had heated discussions before and the discussion easily slips into nationalism, which is against our rules.

  • Reminder: Arguing and discussion is okay, but keep it civil and do not attack the person you are arguing with.

Edit: locking discussion as we don't have enough resources to keep an eye on this post.

A tip for new users: if you want to continue the discussion of a locked post: there is a community for continuing discussions on locked posts !UnlockThread@lemm.ee.

  • Reminder: Arguing and discussion is okay, but keep it civil and do not attack the person you are arguing with.

  • Thanks! Kinda also assumed it would be better unecrypted. Guess I need to give it a try at some point.

  • Any experiences here with video calls via matrix? Never tried as I try to keep myself somewhat private here and mostly use matrix for fediverse stuff.

  • This has been posted many times (which is ok! Always a good idea to spread awareness!) so I will repeat a thing everyone should know just in case it's not known:

I love codeberg, but note that codeberg specifically states they don't tolerate non-FOSS repos.

You can have a private repo with the goal of opening it, but proprietary code is not welcome.

Our mission is to support the creation and development of Free Software; therefore we only allow repos licensed under an OSI/FSF-approved license. For more details see Licensing article. However, we sometimes tolerate repositories that aren't perfectly licensed and focus on spreading awareness of the topic of improper FLOSS licensing and its issues.

    https://docs.codeberg.org/getting-started/faq/#can-i-host-software-and-resources-without-a-free-and-open-source-software-license

    Edit: wording

  • Both are linked to from their official page so both are official, which feels a bit redundant.

Edit: links at https://organicmaps.app/ in "Community" section

  • Adding a link to a thread with the same question awhile back, might also contain helpful info: https://feddit.uk/post/25034087. sadly it was a short thread.

  • Whaaat linux mint my beloved is Irish! Awesome!

  • This post would fit better into !europe@feddit.org or !europeanfederalists@lemmy.world

I just want to bring this up because this community is about discussing European products/services and we don't want the discussion to turn into nationalism/euronationalism.

  • Reminder: Arguing and discussion is okay, but keep it civil and do not attack the person you are arguing with.

  • Hey there, did you happen to accidentally comment on the wrong thread? Your comment looks suspiciously like spam looking at the post you replied on, so I'm just checking.

Edit: I'll remove the comment, but feel free to continue the discussion in the intended thread (if there was one).

Edit 2: all good, context below.
