Don't you all get tired of the constant negativity?
  • I do. That's why I'm using lemmy and reddit at the same time, cause at least on reddit there are subreddits that I care about. Both c/all and r/all are depressing to me but I'm still scrolling through both of them. Btw I'm scrolling on lemmy for almost a year and I do follow some communities here but I always use all and I never switch to subscribed, also I'm rarely subscribing to the new ones. Am I the only one who does that?

  • How has your Lemmy experience changed over the past few months?
  • People here annoy me here more and more with time, especially when it comes to reddit, where every post shitting on reddit is massively upvoted. There is nothing to read aside maybe c/all where active have something new maybe every day, and hot is filled to the brim with the same posts since there is no crossposting as far as I know. It feels to me that people are forcing themselves to like Lemmy cause for no other reason other than they hate reddit so much more. Will that stop me from browsing it? Not yet, but I have to browse reddit for stuff I care more about.

  • superior
  • I've just returned to reddit so I no longer feel superior, but at least I have something to read. Also I dislike this meme because it shows that Lemmy is only for people that hate reddit and noone else. Just look at upvotes for memes and articles that bashes reddit. C'mon dudes, we're better than that.

  • Meme moment when talking to my friend about her PC gaming rig
  • Sure, but still multiplayer games that are not on steam and have some sort of anticheat or other stuff like that are unlikely to show up on deck. Unless company steps in and release version for steam deck/Linux (which they don't cause it's probably a lot of work for minimal returns), you have to play it on windows. At least I can dual boot on my deck to play those games.

  • I abandoned my iPad for an Android tablet and didn’t hate it
  • Even though I have relatively decent phone which can display 1080p videos no problem, I still prefer watching videos on my crappier tablet scaled down to 720p because it's still better to watch worse quality video on bigger screen than better quality video on smaller.

  • You’ll be back…
  • I'm really trying to be positive, guys. I'm daily driving Lemmy, watching all the content here. I've only logged to reddit once thinking "at least old.reddit.com works", and it does, but after clicking on posts it goes back to new so I said "screw it" and I'm sticking with Lemmy for now. But all communities I've followed on Reddit are either small, non-existent, or just bots reposting Reddit posts. I know about this site, and I'm guessing a lot of you too, by googling "reddit alternative". Hate on Reddit will only get you so far. Maybe I'm wrong here, but in my opinion main problem of Lemmy is a lack of reach. I like Lemmy and I'll definitely stick with it, but I don't think it will be as big as reddit. Lemmy needs something that would make people go to it, and "it's not reddit" is not enough.

  • Is anyone else having trouble giving up Reddit due to content?
  • That's a strength that makes Lemmy barren. Tell me, why did you visit reddit for the first time? I stumbled on reddit because of league of legends, some people on podcast associated with this game were talking about it. So I visited reddit and started reading posts. It was the place for discussion with other players and even developers. I just feel like without communities that are centered around certain big or small franchises and without a way to know about those communities Lemmy won't grow, and without growing we will see only bots reposting stuff from official subreddits and salty ex-redditors.

  • Is anyone else having trouble giving up Reddit due to content?
  • I'm sorry to burst your bubble guys but untill I see some big company that advertises their Lemmy community on their website Lemmy wont be an alternative to reddit. Face it - some big titles have their official reddit and those are linked in their products one way or other. Not to mention some businesses are engaging with their communities through reddit. So unless I see something like this on Lemmy, I consider this place as reddit tablescraps.

  • Do you still watch YouTube? Who do you follow?
  • Really? Maybe I'm not on this side of YouTube but for me there are tons of great channels to watch. I'm more interested in science/tech/engineering/video games stuff. I watch Tom Scott, nilered, explosions&fire, Scott the Woz, 8bit guy, summoning salt, electroboom, captain disillusion, I did a thing, William Osman, LGR, Michael Reeves and plenty of more good, not clickbaity, drama free channels I'm watching.

  • Lemmy is slowly getting better
  • Yeah, Lemmy can in some part fill that void reddit left for me, but It's going to be tough for it to be mainstream. The thing that makes Lemmy in my opinion still niche is that subreddits centered and endorsed by popular franchises haven't migrated and I doubt they do it anytime soon. Maybe some day, but I'm not holding my breath.
