This is stupid. No ancap person I've ever known or read has said that. It bothers me when people tear down other people because of the words they put in their mouth.
I know it builds community, it's fun, no one is likely to be hurt, etc. It just bothers me is all.
No generation has been this afraid to take risks in love.
"In fact, Gen Z might just be the most risk-averse generation on record. Fewer Gen Zers got a driver’s license, drank alcohol, or had sex as teenagers than their parents did. The same young adults now report skyrocketing rates of anxiety and other mental illnesses, with some estimates finding that as many as 1 in 5 18-to-24-year-olds have been diagnosed with depression. Timidity—not to mention self-conscious neuroticism—is increasingly the norm.
"An ongoing study from Montclair State University argues that some of this risk aversion is due to the current political climate—or perhaps young people’s perception of it. “Gen Z’s mental health has deteriorated due to a worldview that the society and environment around them are crumbling,” writes justice studies professor Gabriel Rubin. “Rights are being taken away, the Earth is burning, maniacs could kill you with a gun, and viruses could shut down society again.”"

I was literally told to set up this new service as quickly as possible and it didn't need to be correct or best practice because this was just a proof of concept.
Here we are 6 months later and I'm still cleaning up my own mess.
Like a TV that flunked kindergarten? j/k
Count me in for #3.
If you literally replaced the firmware, what else could possibly be phoning home?
I don't know how remotes work, physically, but they gotta send some sort of code to the TV. If your TV's OS can intercept that message it can choose its own response mapped to whatever you want to happen. Something akin to remapping keys in your keyboard.
I would assume, anyway. I could be wrong.
That sounds, uh, fun.
I was thinking that if somebody knows how to do that, they probably also have an opinion on which brands of TV are better or worse for it.
I don't own a TV right now but plan to in the future.
How do I free my television?
Video was submitted to the insurance company that alleged to show the animal enter the car in Lake Arrowhead, but officials said it was a person in a bear suit.
"There are bears at Lake Arrowhead and in the San Bernardino Mountains, which is a forested range about 60 miles northeast of Los Angeles, but they don’t wear costumes."
I asked the Internet. You don't doubt the Internet, do you?
That's 34 years' worth of days!
I don't understand why someone would think that was even possible.
"Google Trends saw a dramatic increase in searches for “How to change my vote” as early as the morning of Election Day before the polls were closed, according to Virginia news outlet WAVY." Google Trends link here.
The Queen is still alive and we have her. Just don't tell anyone, okay?
"I was not panicking as I know the roads and know he is mature enough to walk there without incident," says Brittany Patterson.
"A few days later, DFCS presented Patterson with a "safety plan" for her to sign. It would require her to delegate a "safety person" to be a "knowing participant and guardian" and watch over the children whenever she leaves home. The plan would also require Patterson to download an app onto her son's phone allowing for his location to be monitored. (The day when it will be illegal not to track one's kids is rapidly approaching.)"
After what the Clintons did to Haiti...
It’s Friday night in Downtown Santiago, the capital of Chile, and a group of 15 people gather around a table.
Seven counties voted in favor of secession, and in six of those counties, more than 70% of voters were in favor of the measure.
I like your reasoning. I'm a libertarian myself, so I get it.
But I held my nose and voted Democrat the last two Presidential elections because I think Trump is a uniquely dangerous person. I hate the "this time is different" argument, but I actually think it applied this time.
A plan?
Hmm. Interesting argument.
Maybe people believe that it will save a starving child in the future. Like, some future where politicians finally listen to them?
Morality is not subjective. It is not (or at least should not) be based on emotions.
Of course. But one can hope for insight and help in answering it, no?
But, given that Trump will very likely be as bad or worse, why give him the chance? Just to be able to make the statement?
But considering the alternative to Harris, it doesn't seem as clear as day to me.
And I'm being serious. I feel like there might be an argument there, I just don't understand it. Can someone please "steelman" that argument for me?
That's not out of the question yet.
Should I be looking for a different job?
The teenagers involved were on their way to secondary school, police sources said.
Autism cases spiked 175% among U.S. residents from 2011 to 2022. The rates climbed at a faster rate among young adults.
"Autism spectrum disorder spiked 175% among people in the U.S. from 2.3 per 1,000 in 2011 to 6.3 per 1,000 in 2022, researchers found. Diagnosis rates climbed at a faster rate among adults in their mid-20s to mid-30s in that period, according to a study published Wednesday in JAMA Network Open."
The Halloween tradition of Beggars' Night is unique to Des Moines. We explain the history.
In America (and elsewhere?) we have a tradition of trick-or-treating where on Halloween or the night before kids go around the neighborhood in a costume, knock on doors, and get candy. It's a lot of fun.
But I was well into adulthood before I learned that not all places have kids tell jokes before they get candy. Apparently it's only the city I grew up in that they do that! Not even neighboring cities do it.
Station claims it's visionary, ex-employees claim it's cynical; reality appears way more fiscal
The station using all AI hosts is an experiment, they say, to "engage" with the "question" of AI. It's not the money, of course.
As a silicon wafer supplier, we sometimes wonder how many transistors there are in the world. Learn the answer in our latest blog.
