Georgia school district is banning books, citing sexual content, after firing a teacher
  • https://www.theguardian.com/books/2023/jun/21/utah-bible-school-libraries-ban-reversed

Religious conservatives in a Utah school district voted to ban books containing some violent and sexual content, which lead to the bible being banned, which lead to the ban being reversed.

Spotlighting the double-standards and hypocrisy can be an effective countermeasure. I doubt it changed anyone’s minds who voted for the ban, but what matters is that they were forced to reverse the ban.

  • The easiest way to upset a racist is to call them racist.

They won’t admit it because they know it’s a bad look, but they can’t deny it because they’re too proud. It would be funny if it weren’t so pathetic.

This isn't the behavior of a rational adult. This is what I'd expect from a spoiled child.

  • Social Media Has Run Out of Fresh Ideas
  • It has bluetooth so it can pair with your phone and sync with your health data. It will monitor your calorie intake throughout the day, and when the integrated AI thinks you’ve eaten enough, the spoon will vibrate to shake off any remaining food.

It will automatically take pictures of what you’re eating and post them to your social media feeds, and share with friends and family. This feature is on by default and can only be disabled manually through the spoon settings.

The OLED screen and speaker built into the handle will display high-definition ads for food recommendations at the nearest grocery store. The pro model has a microphone so you can easily add items to your shopping list. You can opt-out of ads for just $5/month.

  • The c-suite culture cares about one thing: “Number go up”

They do not give a shit why people are still on reddit. They look at the site traffic analytics and as long as the number is going up, they think they’re doing the right thing. Your mere presence on the site is only seen as opportunity for them to squeeze out more ad revenue.

“But I don’t click on the ads!”

They don’t care about that either! Every time an ad appears on your screen, that gets recorded as a data point in their analytics, regardless of whether or not you interact with it.

They just want to see the numbers go up. They don’t care how it happens, as long as it happens.

If you want to hit them where it hurts, stop engaging with the site.

  • Far-right figures, including Nazi supporters, anti-gay extremists, and white supremacists, are flocking to Threads
  • They left twitter and moved to truth social, only to realize there’s no one to troll in a private echo chamber.

So they came back to twitter just as everyone else started leaving due to musk’s bullshit.

Now with threads positioning itself as a viable alternative to twitter, it was inevitable that they would make their way there too.

These people have made conflict such a fundamental aspect of their personalities that when they don’t have it they go looking for places to create it.
