🟥 VAR audio of Romero's red card against Chelsea
  • @hallenbeck @richardwoods @coys @spurs 100%, yes. It's uncanny reading your description of your current situation and feeling the deja vu! (We need not to be getting it so bad this season, but remain baffled that Grealish is supposedly fouled four times as much as Salah!)

  • 🟥 VAR audio of Romero's red card against Chelsea
  • @hallenbeck @richardwoods @coys @spurs I agree on every part of that. As usual, rugby shows the way.

  • 🟥 VAR audio of Romero's red card against Chelsea
  • @richardwoods @hallenbeck @coys @spurs Agreed on the manner of it, but I don't think you can quibble too much with the substance. Amazing the difference it makes when you can see what the VAR people are seeing and hear what they're saying.

  • Vicario vs Chelsea 🙌
  • @hallenbeck @coys @spurs I'd need to watch the 90 minutes to have much chance of answering that. What I see NOW is extraordinary shot-stopping, superb control of the area, outstanding sweeping, comfort in possession, occasional magical long passes and even the odd goal! But I didn't know any of that about him when he signed. (I'm glad we have people for that!)

  • Vicario vs Chelsea 🙌
  • @hallenbeck @coys @spurs Very nice.

The most astonishing thing about Alisson's acquisision is that it came after Klopp had watched him concede five goals to #LFC in the Champions League! Smart to look past the scoreline.

  • Vicario vs Chelsea 🙌
  • @hallenbeck @coys @spurs Nice. Sounds like the complete modern keeper.

  • Vicario vs Chelsea 🙌
  • @hallenbeck @coys @spurs How's his distribution?

I always think of Brian Clough (I'm showing my age now) saying that Peter Shilton was worth 15 points a season, and so well worth the fee that Forest paid.

  • Vicario vs Chelsea 🙌
  • @hallenbeck @coys @spurs For quite a few years now, Alisson and Ederson have been a class above the rest of the PL's goalkeepers. Based on this (admittedly cherry-picked) video, that top two might be on the way to becoming a top three.

  • Top 🔝 Tottenham after nine games of the 2023/24 Premier League season:
  • @hallenbeck @coys @spurs Indeed. Before this season I'd already concluded it was a net negative to the game and should be scrapped. Nothing I've seen this year has even hinted at that not being the correct take.

  • Top 🔝 Tottenham after nine games of the 2023/24 Premier League season:
  • @hallenbeck @coys @spurs i i wish that would do it!

The bitterness is, at leaat, not towards Spurs, who played well; but towards PGMOL, who did not.

  • Top 🔝 Tottenham after nine games of the 2023/24 Premier League season:
  • @hallenbeck @coys @spurs I like how in that "season so far" video, the highlights of the Liverpool game cut straight to the guy saying "A win is a win" over and over 🙂

  • Top 🔝 Tottenham after nine games of the 2023/24 Premier League season:
  • @hallenbeck @coys @spurs … but only because VAR handed you three of them 🙂/2

  • This is what Postecoglou values
  • @hallenbeck @coys @spurs Strong resonances here with Klopp's "no dickheads" rule. Recruit on character as well as ability.

  • Roy Hodgson is a thoroughly decent human being. Love his press conferences.
  • @hallenbeck @coys @spurs You wouldn't say that about him if he'd managed your team!!

  • According to this analysis of VAR decisions for the 22/23 season, Liverpool were the joint second beneficiaries of VAR decisions, while City were bottom.
  • @hallenbeck Strongly agree with every part of that. I don't know if Spurs fans have someone doing similarly detailed work? (Actually, I don't know if ANYONE has!)

  • According to this analysis of VAR decisions for the 22/23 season, Liverpool were the joint second beneficiaries of VAR decisions, while City were bottom.
  • @hallenbeck @football Yes, it's very satisfying to be discussing thr facts of the matter in such a civilised manner!

    /tips hat/

  • According to this analysis of VAR decisions for the 22/23 season, Liverpool were the joint second beneficiaries of VAR decisions, while City were bottom.
  • @hallenbeck @football Does this only show that more initially incorrect decisions were made against Brentford, Fulham and Liverpool than against Leeds, Brighton and Man City?

In any case, VAR overturns are such infrequent events that you can't really draw statistically significant conclusions from them.
