I can't speak for where you were at specifically but in some places if you don't "volunteer" to work it's looked at extremely unfavorably by parole boards.

I wouldn't necessarily call it slavery light though just a different type of slavery. American chattel slavery was uniquely horrible even amongst most of the other forms of slavery that have existed in the past.

durability systems in non crafting games suck all of the joy out for me. I get weirdly anxious about "optimizing" my weapons and end up only using bad weapons and making the game needlessly hard on myself.

That's part of the reason magsafe is now everywhere. Can't misalign it if they self correct.

I don't think I have ever seen a worse sourced Wikipedia section. I agree with the general sentiment but holy shit I'm suprised that whole section hasn't just been thrown out.

Edit: checked the talk page apparently it was one of the students edited ones which explains why it reads like an essay I rushed out the night before the due date.

I don't think it's a paid browser (there are a few of those though) it's a paid search engine.

Can we just be realistic and understand that most people can't/won't do this. Most people do not have the time/technical knowhow to host everything themselves.

Edit: came back to this and wanted to clarify. It would be great if people could self host literally everything but I don't get any crucial information through emails or really ever besides in person. I am more than willing to pay a reasonable amount to support privacy features but I'm not personally willing to spend 10x that amount in time to do something that will probably not work because I am not an IT person. I do not have to time to learn how to self host 26 different pieces of software that I have been told I need to self host nor do I have the spare computer parts lying around to build a machine to host them. I have looked at self hosting a matrix client because that is the one type of app that I get anything I want to keep private sent to me but my family is already using signal so I'm unconvinced that switching is worth while.

I'm still not sure how you fuck up bad enough to bankrupt a casino, let alone multiple.

My work its super quick to e-sign because they have everything set up already. at home fuck that I don't sign enough documents that I would ever save time setting it up.

I dropped windows on my gaming rig after they decided I could not opt out of co-pilot easily. So I opted out of paying them.

I was never a "main friend" in any of the groups I interacted with. I hung out with a lot of people on a very shallow level. When covid hit I stopped talking to all of them. it was nearly a year of me only seeing my parents and sibling because a family member is immunocompromised. I still struggle to make real connections after that and I was at the end of highschool. If that had hit in middleschool when I was still taking "cool" seeming peoples sord as gossiple I have known idea what it would have done to me.

I think a lot of people meme too hard and you end up with a the_Donald situation where all of a sudden the people agreeing with your jokes aren't aware you're joking. I have seen multiple right wing review channels unironically praise the helldivers government.

I dislike gnome to an unreasonable extent. I tried using it when I first tried linux and it did not vibe.

IDK I asked my wife and she agreed. I think it has to do with the lighting and the expression on her face.
