what caused you to get into Linux?
  • Lack of money, I couldn't afford to pay for a Windows license. After discovering how to install Linux more than 25 years ago, I became eager to learn it and never looked back.

  • Some questions about switching to more privacy friendly options
  • Yes, they are definitely sketchy now.

  • What is the best linux alternative to OneNote?
  • I use logseq and notesnook.

  • workspaces like vivaldi?
  • It is really hard to replicate Vivaldi's workspace or stacked tab features in Firefox. I know some have had good luck with replicating the stacked tabs with extensions I personally don't think it's the same. Floorp tries to implement workspaces but it's implementations is lacking. I can't remember if Pulse browser has this feature or not. Good luck.

  • Kagi search has improved their ultimate plan
  • I am on the new unlimited $10 plan. The feature I love most is lenses, very handy.

  • Google kills Jamboard
  • I am not surprised. Into Google's graveyard it goes.

  • I have the itch: Distrohopping - MakuluLinux – A Whole World of Possibilities

I have an itch to test out some deb-based distributions. I use OpenSUSE. Although I don't want to switch distributions, I do want to experiment with some new feature-rich distros. I discovered this distribution MakuluLinux which appears to have numerous personalized desktops and a strong AI integration. Rhino Linux, which has rhino-pkg and a unique XFCE desktop, is another on my list. Any further recommendations?

Any good tech sites without the fluff?
  • Too much? LOL!!

  • What do you use Best Buy/ Big Box Electromics Store for?
  • I forget they sell appliances.

  • What do you use Best Buy/ Big Box Electromics Store for?
  • Their shipping is horrendous lately.

  • What do you use Best Buy/ Big Box Electromics Store for?

What purposes do you use Best Buy/Big Box electronic stores? Do you try items before you buy them in-person or online? Do you shop in-store for products? Are you a purely online shopper? I make an effort to patronize small companies, but when it comes to electronics, I frequently buy reconditioned computers and other items from the Best Buy outlet since my experiences there have been positive. I used to regularly order from Tiger Direct, but unfortunately, it is no longer open for business.

  • What are we all using for video chat in 2023?
  • I was lucky to be able to convince most of my family to use Telegram. Now that they are comfortable I can't get them to try anything else.

Any good tech sites without the fluff?

I am looking for some good tech sites that have longer articles and indepth reviews. Preferably without an obvious biased towards a particular company or brand. edit: I should have clarified what to was looking for. I would like to compile a list of lesser-known but useful websites so that I can stay current on tech news without having to deal with the "fluff" that some of these sites now contain or the never-ending stream of anything remotely technological that you'd receive at the Verge, Ars Technica, etc.
