  • Eh, trans surgeries are more or less self-harm, I'm not a fan of the surgeries being subsidized with government funding at all. I oppose the hormones being subsidized as well but am not sure how that could be legislated properly yet.

  • I wanna say the ban doesn't apply to people who can work with those of the same sex and present themselves in a cisgender manner with no problem.

If you're trans but aren't going to make that anybody else's problem, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to serve in the military.

  • I think migrants have to assimilate to some degree. Not saying one needs to entirely change, but like if you come to America, you should learn to speak English, for example. But we will not fight you if you continue to eat Chinese food.

So, not doing honor killings, for example, is a form of assimilation.

  • I don't know that I'd blame Carney for this. I voted for Trump, but let's be fair: this policy wasn't new, it's only going into effect next month after being approved by Trudeau. It also is completely fair, as it taxes American companies the same rate as Canadian companies.

  • What people? Do you have a study or stat that backs this up?

Been awhile since I looked up stats but what I see tends to indicate that Gen Z is increasingly partisan, but are increasingly right wing, in comparison to boomers, who are overwhelmingly left wing.

  • It wouldn't surprise me at all that this is what New Yorkers want, but progressivism still makes up for the minority of the electorate. Leftism isn't that popular.

I suspect here that Mamdani won mostly because he's up against two former mayors who refused to do anything about the problems they're now promising to fix, and people are ready for a change, not that they're socialists. I know it's New York, but I'd like to give them a bit of charitability.
