I'm the general secretary of the Chinese communist party in 1961 and my Soviet neighbour is becoming increasingly revisionist in its Marxist doctrine. Should I cut ties?
  • I haven't fully finished it yet but I'm also losing it over this. I knew the Sino-Soviet split was a disaster but I didn't know how deeply China worked with the US as a result. I guess I understand now why they were able to convince the US to tie their economies so deeply together

    Vietnam stays winning

  • The Matrix: the woman in the red dress
  • Genuinely might be my favorite scene in the movie. One conversation and it lays out everything so perfectly and precisely while never leaving the metaphor of the Matrix. Especially the comment about these people being the very people they are trying to save - but until they are, they can't see through the system. It's how I feel every time someone tells me I'm being hyperbolic about capitalism or idealistic about socialism.

  • Comic book idea: Cheney is trying to plan 9/11 and Iraq in the DC Universe where Superman exists
  • I believe that's only in the animated version, in the comic he just fails to save him. The comic gets weird as hell tho, beyond just the typical complete misunderstanding of communism, capitalism, really anything about material reality or human nature.

  • For real though, who do the Dems run after Biden?
  • Previously I'd always said Buttigieg but a Newsom/Buttigieg ticket would not surprise me at all either, I am just assuming the rat will still be involved. AOC will be an even more controlled opposition than Bernie was, she'll spend the primary talking about how the frontrunner doesn't go far enough then she'll get in line and endorse around February 2028.

  • The phrase "South Korea has no first graders" had such "the west has fallen (mom took away my PSP)" energy I had to do a little digging to see if the numbers were being fudged - 157 elementary schools is about 2.5% of the elementary schools in ROK assuming this data from the ROK Ministry of Education is accurate. Not an insignificant percentage for something this crazy, but I'd like to see this data over time. I worry I sound like I'm awarding Pinocchios but it irks me to see that headline presented as if it's the majority of schools

  • r/linux moment: Scolds trans woman for being too mean to a transphobe
  • Recently had the opportunity to set up a new system from basically scratch and tried a few different wayland options, assuming I'd land on hyprland since it seemed to be the most beloved, but then I finished configuring sway and realized it was basically perfect. Might try swayfx at some point but I really don't understand how hyprland got so much of a following

  • What was your most lib moment before you were radicalized (or at all)?
  • In December 2015 I had already called the nomination for him, and I was the only person I knew who thought that was even remotely possible. Still never thought he'd win the general though.

Though I was definitely a lib I absolutely did laugh at Hilldawg losing lol

  • I'm slightly to the right of Attila the Hun

I hate that I know this but is this motherfucker identifying with the military coup portrayed in the fucking movie version of Evita? This is a line from that unless I'm mistaken. Just, an unbelievable level of cringe

EDIT: I was fucking right though it might also be from the original musical

  • Oh, fucking great. RBG 2.0! Another lib justice who might die and give Trump yet another fucking seat on the court.
  • Most jokerfied timeline: she resigns next month, McConnell refuses to allow appointments in an election year and Manchin joins him, Biden campaigns on the appointment, fails, Trump appoints Barron to ensure the court stays 7-2 for the next 40 years

  • MSNBC legal guy has a Gaza take.
  • There's another layer of really disgusting chauvinism in this I can't totally articulate. Dude clearly views Palestinians/probably any Arab American as being motivated by emotion, but the rational white people can rise above and observe the facts and logic of the situation. Infantilizing Palestinians but dressing it up in this "I hear you" language, but still genuinely believing they're stupid for being against being genocided.
