Why isn't apple a popular ice cream flavor?
  • I've never tried one, but now it seems I have to.

  • Why isn't apple a popular ice cream flavor?
  • Cinnamon apple jelly should be more common too! (Not apple butter… fuck Apple butter).

    Apple cinnamon all the things!

  • In rare move from printing industry, HP actually has a decent idea
  • Paprika 3 recipe manager does that too, plus it adds it to a local database, without any AI bullshit or HP account.

  • RIP beloved XD64
  • This is why I use a right angle connector cable and gaffer tape the cable to the back or bottom of the keyboard. It’s fugly but it prevents this exact problem.

  • What do you want to do when you retire?
  • I am retired and you're describing me, other than the fact that you'd have to pay me to watch soccer. I watch bicycle racing instead. It's a damn nice life.

  • Would You Wear an Air-Filled Cycling Backpack If It Could Reduce Drag and Improve Safety?
  • They definitely did try both but I don’t know if anyone was ever cheeky enough to wear that setup in an actual race.

Currently they’re putting race radios in the front, centered side to side, during TTs. Rumor has it that the UCI has already had to tell a couple of teams to stop using extra tape and stuff to embiggen the radio lump.

  • Would You Wear an Air-Filled Cycling Backpack If It Could Reduce Drag and Improve Safety?
  • Believe it or not, hydration packs have been shown to reduce aerodynamic drag for cyclists. There was a brief moment in pro cycling where riders wore them during time trials to shave a few tenths off their time. Strangely, the benefit of wearing one backward (on your chest) is a little bit better than wearing it on your back.

Needless to say, the UCI quickly banned hydration packs altogether.

  • Any safety it adds would probably be immediately offset by the added dangers of drivers being unable to see or steer effectively due to uncontrollable laughter.

  • This article is 10 years old, but my wife's iPhone 12 just got paid off and the performance on it hit the brakes overnight. Same with my son's iPhone 11. Both working last month. Dogs now.
  • I have an iphone 12 mini and it's working fine. A couple of times, after an update, I've had to manually restart the phone to get rid of mysterious power drain. Other than that, zero problems for me.

  • TIL about hair traps
  • I’m with you. If there weren’t health and social complications, I’d be wishing for full-blown alopecia.

  • TIL about hair traps
  • I’m super lazy. I started losing my hair at age 14 and it was pretty much all over by 30. I didn’t give in and start shaving the fringes until 40-something

  • TIL about hair traps
  • My solution to the problem was to preemptively lose all my hair in my thirties but yours probably works too.

Shall We Dance (1996) (Japanese with English subtitles)

I like this one better than the more recent American version with Gere and Lopez.

    Starship Enterprise or jellyfish launcher?
  • Can I opt for both?

  • Krillin
  • I have been, but I ate beans or potatoes, not rice. I know lemmy loves to bang on about beans and rice but it’s not my thing. Growing up in a farm community meant there was a lot of cheap food to be found locally.

  • Krillin
  • Dude! I thought you were dead! Welcome back!

  • Krillin
  • Wait… people actually like rice? I thought it was just a thing you ate with other things because of reasons I don’t understand. It never occurred to me that people would eat it on purpose, because they enjoy it.

  • Is there any reason to upgrade my AMD Ryzen 9 5950x to a 7900x3d or 7950x3d?

I'm currently using an AMD 5950x and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 LHR, pushing video to a Dell U4021QW, which is a 40" monitor running 5120x2160@60hz. A few of the games I play are pretty challenged at that resolution, so I'm thinking of upgrading at least the video card. Is there any reason to build a new system with a newer CPU as well?

Noah Webster: "The freest government, if it could exist, would not be long acceptable, if the tendency of the laws were to create a rapid accumulation of property in few hands, ..."

Way back in 1820, Noah Webster penned a rather prescient speech that talked about the problem of inequality. Some of what he said would be considered problematic today, but IMO the core of his speech rings very true.

    >The freest government, if it could exist, would not be long acceptable, if the tendency of the laws were to create a rapid accumulation of property in few hands, and to render the great mass of the population dependent and penniless.

    >In such a case, the popular power would be likely to break limit and control the exercise of popular power. Universal suffrage, for example, could not long exist in a community where there was great inequality of property. The holders of estates would be obliged, in such case, in some way to restrain the right of suffrage, or else such right of suffrage would, before long, divide the property. In the nature of things, those who have not property, and see their neighbors possess much more than they think them need, cannot be favorable to laws made for the protection of property. When this class becomes numerous, it glows clamorous. It looks on property as its prey and plunder, and is naturally ready, at all times, for violence and revolution.

Best 100% dedicated plex player (client) for 4k TV

I have a lovely plex server set up and working very well, with tons of content ready to play. Now I just need a client for my TV that doesn't piss me off. I absolutely detest Google/Android TV, and my Apple TV periodically wipes out my Plex preferences, which is a known issue.

I'd like to have a 100% dedicated plex client for my TV. I don't want or need it to do anything else at all, and it has to be totally remote friendly and capable of playing 4k/60 UHD content.

    Any suggestions?
