Guess it's ByeAnime now
I like it because of the convience but yeah it is basically leeching. At the same time, you can only watch stuff on-the-fly when it is seeded healthily say like 70+ seeders. So using stremio doesn't really hurt anyone ig
Dang this article and the comments on hackernews makes me feel I need to game more.
Only recently I have realised that gaming is indeed an addiction and that I need to stop playing them(wasn't successful yet). It's because during the times I've deeply immersed myself into games, I don't seem to pay attention to my other areas of my life. Now that I recall those times, I don't seem to remember any memorable event in my life in that time period. It's almost as if those years have been skipped in my life which is too bad. Hence I started to think gaming as a bad habit that needs stopping but haven't been able to do so. Hopefully one day.
I am glad that people are having different views on gaming and proposing a belief that it really isn't that bad to be really that immersed into the games.
Hello guys, I haven't been up to date with what's happening with fediverse and just got to know that Meta has arrived here. Lemmy.world is not blocking it. So what should I do as an user to avoid Meta? Move to different big instance? Does monyet.cc block meta?
I am kind of in the same boat as OP and I did come across Nextcloud. But how reliable is Nextcloud hosted by some other org/company/person? Aren't we running away from a company hosting our data to another company hosting our data?
I am trying to finally move from entirely depending on Google Photos to a proper backup strategy. I have my photos and videos downloaded from Google which are a mess right now but as long they're with me I am fine, at least for now.
So, what I have planned is 3 way backup with Mega Drive-Google Photos- Local storage. Local storage, I will start off with storing on a pendrive and my router has a usb port so will make use of it for time being.
I know my way of doing things is noobish for a piracy community (and in general too, I am kinda embarrassed as well sharing this "strategy" of mine). Hence I'm asking for suggestions to improve my strategy. Yeah, in the future I will move to HDDs and NAS but for time being I am starting out this way.
So how do you manage your personal media? Are there any noob-friendly tools/techniques you know which drastically improve my strategy?
Have you guys fully replaced reddit? For me I feel like missing out news I need to be hearing. I have tried rss feeds but couldn't seem to make them work well.
Kinda shows how what's up has evolved over the years
What's up - WhatsApp sup - Sup
videos
How are they achieving this? Something can't be done with Lemmy due to load
This guy said something photoshop related in German and I hope it is not a photoshop
If you keep avoiding "dead" communities, how will they ever be alive?
Giving a shout-out to communities where this more accurately belongs
Yeah all good I don't want to suspect the dev either but since there are bunch of alternatives available, I'd opt for them than this one. I loved how Connect was the first one to try and implement the swipe between posts feature. Hope it keep doing well in the future.
That's untrue I installed Connect and used it for 5min. Stayed only in app and didn't click on any third-party article link, here is the result: 47 trackers in 5 mins
I will install Connect again and see if it still gets detected on DuckDuckGo having hidden trackers.
Is there a possibility that DuckDuckGo got it wrong? Or is the Meta already trying to track users from threads which is present on fediverse? Latter seems unlikely but who knows.
I was using Connect until I have found that there are trackers(via DuckDuckGo app) in it from Facebook. Trackers are common in apps, but if there are options available which give same experience without trackers, I will choose those options.
