Can MDM software be used to spy on employee ?
  • As someone that has managed MDM platforms before, I absolutely agree with this. If it’s a work laptop, then yeah they have the right to install MDM on it. If it’s a personal laptop, I really wouldn’t recommend it.

MDM gives the admins full control over the device. They can run commands to wipe the device, install software, set policies, gather inventory data, or any custom action they want.

The MDM platforms I’ve used can’t be used to spy on people, but they absolutely have the power to install software or run scripts that can spy on you. IT probably doesn’t have time to actually watch individual employees, but anything they do likely has a built in report that can give data on who did what, prioritizing based on whatever the company is looking for.

Always assume that companies are monitoring everything going on with the computers and WiFi networks that they own. They likely are checking things out to make sure activity is safe and appropriate.

  • Definition of a weapon of mass destruction ?
  • I just saw this post that clarified it was a fully automatic machine gun. Weapon of mass destruction sounds like a nuke, but from a legislative perspective, I can see how a fully automatic machine gun would qualify.

  • While there are some really cool things coming (spatial video, action button, etc), the only reason to recommend an upgrade this year is for Apple Intelligence features. If your phone is old and it’s just your time to upgrade, then it’s a great year for it. But if you’ve got a newer phone, don’t rush for the upgrade.

  • macOS Sequoia may require weekly permissions for screen recording apps
  • MDMs already allow business to manage security permissions for apps. I don’t see why this would be any different. If the company has an MDM, this change should have no impact on their users. If they don’t have an MDM, they really need to get one, not just for this, but a lot of other security and usability reasons.

This will really suck for users of personal devices, though.

  • When to stop upgradingg RoW? ShatteredPD
  • As a mage, +3 is probably a fair stopping point, maybe +5 if you really want the higher end equipment. You need the upgrades for your staff.

For other classes, it depends. As a huntress, I’ll often stop at +11 or +13, depending on what level I found it at. Farming consumables and higher end equipment can be super fun! A +13 ring of wealth will provide +7 armor and weapons, which can easily be game winners. The higher level also will provide several scrolls of transmutation that I often use after dwarf king to get the ring that I want.

  • How do you guys manage faith is my armor challenge?
  • I’m honestly working on this challenge now. It requires changing your strategy from reducing damage via armor upgrades to avoiding damage at all costs. Avoiding damage is really hard to do, but increasing evasion by using cloth/leather armor and/or ring of evasion helps.

My successes with this one have been with mage and huntress. Both allow you to create a build with high damage at range, minimizing the chances to get hit. The rogue’s free runner class is also a good option.

  • Important announcement: Future of the community
  • I like the Mac Rumors articles that the Zippy Bot posted.

What do you want this community to be? A place to discuss news articles about Apple, or a place for users to bring their own discussion topics?

Personally, I’d like it to be both. I think refining Zippy Bot would allow this community to still have plenty of rumor and news articles. I do wish there was a better balance of user posts, though, for better discussions.

  • How to use seeds for offense effectively?
  • A lot of times the monsters will follow your movements, even if there is a quicker path to attack you!

Also. Yes flying enemies won’t trigger the plants by their movement. However, if they are over a plant, you can throw an item onto that tile to activate the plant. For example, if the bat is over a tile with a firebloom plant and you through some armor at the bat, the armor will not harm the bat but fall onto the plant, activating the firebloom seed and catching the bat on fire. I don’t do this often, but it can be useful.

  • How to use seeds for offense effectively?
  • It’s hard to anticipate the movements of enemies to use seeds effectively. I always throw a seed where I believe the enemy will go next. Throwing a seed at the tile where the enemy is now will not activate the effect and will allow them to safely move on. If you throw it where they will move to next turn, when they move into that tile, the seed effect will activate.

My favorite offensive uses for seeds are poison (sorrowmoss) and fire (firebloom) to directly attack an enemy, or use stormvine seed to cause vertigo on a tile right next to chasms where they can fall thought. Using stormvine to kill a tough enemy in one hit is always satisfying.

  • Tips for new player (how to spend last 6 upgrade scrolls) or any tips in general after looking at my inventory and skill point allocation
  • What kind of wand did you imbue into your staff? I always recommend getting your staff to +7 so that it has 10 charges total.

Also, the ring of energy is really good with mage. Definitely upgrade that to +4, where it gives a +100% bonus.

Those two would take up 4 of your 6 remaining upgrade scrolls. I would likely out one into armor and one into your weapon, but it depends on the build you want to go with.
