An easy shave on a beautiful morning. I'm busy with errands today and then going to the symphony with my wife this evening. Should be fun!
Have a good Saturday y'all.

- Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations "Nebulagance" - TurnNShave Quartermoon 26mm synthetic
- Razor: Gillette - Slim Adjustable (L4, 1966)
- Blade: Personna - Lab Blue (1)
- Lather: Stirling - Black Ice
- Post Shave: Stirling - Black Ice Aftershave splash
The first quick shave with this adjustable went pretty well and Black Ice was a nice wind down to the week.
I signed a contract this week to work for a new employer starting mid-February! β¨
I'll need to be in the office a few days a week, which will be a pretty big change, but the pay and opportunity for growth are both a definite step up for me. Very excited!
Thatβs awesome! Iβve heard good things about the riding in Vermont but have never been. I didnβt really get into snowboarding until we moved out west.
I assume thereβs a decent amount of snow given all the weather yβall have gotten this winter?
Nice, I dabbled with bass in high school but it never really stuck. I hope youβre able to keep up with it!
In my experience, stringing together non-zero days is the most important thing when learning a new skill.
And yeah RIP David Lynch. I heard he passed from emphysema cause by smoking, which is a horrible way to go. Iβm so grateful I quit smoking when I did.

- Brush: Zenith/Stirling - 510SE-XL 31mm boar
- Razor: GEM - MMOC (first gen, 1930-1932)
- Blade: Personna - GEM PTFE (2)
- Lather: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber
- Post Shave: Stirling - Black Ice Aftershave splash
- Post Shave: Ginger's Garden - Unscented Aftershave balm (+ menthol)
- Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Lavanille EdT
Superlative results from the MMOC. Three passes, no irritation. I love this little razor.
Black Ice into Lavanille works very well, I'll have to remember this combo.
Praise Friday y'all!

- Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations "Nebulagance" - TurnNShave Quartermoon 26mm synthetic
- Razor: Chiseled Face - Titanium Legacy Razor
- Blade: Bolzano - Superinox (3)
- Lather: Talent Soap Factory - Kittyhawk
- Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Paganini's Violin Aftershave splash
- Post Shave: Ginger's Garden - Unscented Aftershave balm (+ menthol)
Another quick shave. Meetings --;
Kittyhawk fits the bill for an aquatic scent IMO, and it's a lovely slightly sweet summer scent. Notes: salty sea air, dried coconut, eucalyptus, jasmine, clove, vetiver, driftwood. Good stuff.
Light on the post-shave fragrance today since I have a dentist appointment this afternoon.

- Razor: GEM - Micromatic Flying Wing
- Blade: Personna - GEM PTFE (6)
- Lather: Stirling - Haverford
- Post Shave: Stirling - Haverford Aftershave splash
- Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm
- Fragrance: Stirling - Haverford EdT
This is such a good scent. A shameless dickhole today and it's totally worth it.
I scored a deal on a DFTR set on the discord, very much looking forward to using it.
Congrats on the kill! π
You were much closer with Caoba than I am with GTB. I probably have two weeks left in the tub at least.
Wow, those scales are lovely!

- Razor: Yates Precision Manufacturing - 921-M

- Post Shave: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber Aftershave splash
- Post Shave: Ginger's Garden - Unscented Aftershave balm (+ menthol)
- Fragrance: Stirling - Noble Man EdT
Another easy GTB lather. I was rushing the shave between meetings this morning and nicked myself on the chin going ATG. I should remember to slow down.
Have a good one y'all!
Sunday, January 19, 2025: SLS
- Brush: Summer Break Soaps "Elyria" - TurnNShave v9 28mm badger
- Razor: RazoRock - Game Changer .68
- Blade: Bolzano - Superinox (7)
- Lather: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber
- Post Shave: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber Aftershave splash
- Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm
Back for a second luxury shave this evening since I have to be up earlier than usual to catch a train.
The Bolzano blade still performed well on its seventh shave, but I don't feel like I need to push it any further. I will probably order more of these blades eventually, they've performed consistently well for me across razors.
Thereβs a part of me that wants to buckle down and focus on the kill.
Then the next morning comes and I get distracted by the other soaps I want to use. I should just hide everything else from myself or something.

- Brush: Zenith/Stirling - 510SE-XL 31mm boar
- Razor: Chiseled Face - Titanium Legacy Razor
- Blade: Bolzano - Superinox (2)
- Lather: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber
- Post Shave: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber Aftershave splash
- Post Shave: Ginger's Garden - Unscented Aftershave balm (+ menthol)
- Fragrance: Stirling - Oro Valley EdT
I'm trying to use this soap regularly to potentially kill a tub within the next few months.
I love the scent of GTB, but I'm not sure I'll replace the tub when it's gone. For a barbershop scent, I think I currently prefer ZM's The Master.
Legacy + Bolzano was a great combo as always.
Sorry to hear about your blade!
I wonder whether you could find someone to reset the blade angle without ruining the steel. Maybe a βhonemeisterβ would have some tricks up their sleeve?

- Brush: Grizzly Bay - Chisel & Hound v24 Fanchurian badger
- Razor: GEM - MMOC (first gen, 1930-1932)
- Blade: Personna - GEM PTFE (1)
- Lather: Zingari Man - The Rambler
- Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Rambler Recovery Splash
- Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm
- Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Roam Two EdT
It was a great shave this morning. Everything clicked with the MMOC. The Rambler smelled great and gave an excellent lather. There were just excellent results all around.
Have a great Saturday y'all!
I had two promising job interviews this week, both of which seem likely to give me an offer next week!
Feels good. When I was first transitioning into this industry (software development), it was much more difficult to land interviews and gain traction. Itβs been way easier this time around.
I cleaned my razors today
They had built up a bit of soap residue. Now theyβre cleaner.
Some Recent Acquisitions
I had some exciting stuff arrive this morning and over the weekend!
First up, a nice Stirling haul:
This is the 31mm Zenith boar brush, the same that was used for the subreddit's prior "Moar Boar" group buy. The handle feels great in hand, and the knot seems just as nice as my other Zenith boar. My only complaint is that the Zenith and Stirling logos are pretty far off-level with the base of the handle. Not the end of the world, but it's unfortunate.
Christmas Eve in a bath soap is a great scent. I'm looking forward to trying it and Frankincense & Myrrh in shave soap format.
Deep Blue Sea aftershave is a re-stock. I love it with a bit of menthol.
The bonus was a sample of Haverford bath soap. I've previously used the shave soap/splash/frag, so this sample is most welcome. It's such a winning scent, especially for this time of year.
Next, some new hardware:
![New Razors](ht
Show and Tell: Neovim SOTD Plugin
I had the day off today, so I hacked together a port of the SOTD emacs plugin that @PorkButtsNTaters666@sub.wetshaving.social uses.
It's still a pretty rough implementation, but I wanted to share the repository here in case others who use Neovim might want to help me kick the tires. I'm fully aware that this is a niche within a niche, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take!
I know there's some cleanup that needs to happen, and the config file format could use a bit more thought, but it works well enough for now. If anyone feels compelled to use it I'd welcome any feedback either here or on the repo itself.
The code is hosted on GitHub here.
Why is my bowl lather so lame?
I usually face lather and get consistently good results at this point.
However, when I get a .5 oz. or less sample I'll smush the soap down into a thin, even layer using one of those collapsible slow-feed pet bowls. Every time I get a foamy bullshit lather.
I'm unsure how to get an equally wet and slick lather with the bowl. Do I just need to keep adding water? Move to the face sooner? Give up and grow a beard?
