We all like AOC here on Lemmy, but are enough of the old ass "liberals" going to join us so she can actually get elected? Seems highly unlikely to be honest.
I'd love to see it happen though. That's what primaries are for. The Dems should try one of those. It's been a while.
Who is expecting different results when they vote? I expect the same thing each time - Democrats doing less harm than Republicans.
People need to be realistic about the options in front of them in that moment. Do things outside of voting when you can, but on voting day the right thing to do isn't complicated.
People still need to show up and vote, and they need to choose the least bad option even if it's not an option they actually like. Not doing so is irrational behavior.
Next time we're standing in the voting booth, what is a better option than voting for the Democrats? I don't like them either. But right then. Right there. WTF else are we really supposed to do?
If you can do things that make a difference aside from voting, by all means do that. But advocating for anything other than voting for Democrats when it's time to vote is just irrational. Do the best you can in each moment - even when the thing you're doing isn't enjoyable.
Not something my schedule allows. That's the point. If you can do it, more power to you. "Be a politician yourself" doesn't always align with the goal of supporting a family.
So let's just throw away our votes to a third party? What do you propose instead of voting for the less bad option? What is something you or I can actually do?
Remember how we've been punishing Cuba for 60 years by making sure they can't buy stuff from other countries? That's our new model for checks notes ... improving the US economy.
I went once in my early 20s. Drove all night with a friend and stayed with his grandparents. Figured I should see what it's like since my parents didn't have vacation money when I was a kid.
Magic Kingdom was pretty lame to a 23 year old stoner. Should have spent the gas money on drugs.
My neighborhood's HOA has been pretty chill the few years I've lived here. The fees pay for the pool, landscaping, walking path maintenance, etc. Maybe I'd feel different if one of my neighbors was finding and reporting a bunch of violations, but so far it seems like the HOA has been good for my neighborhood. I'm sure other places get out of hand, but it's not always the nightmare people make it out to be online.
My tv played the audio too!!
