What’s the worst piece of technology you’ve ever owned?
  • Do they hurt the backs of your ears? I've had some cheap in-ear headphones that also had curved plastic to fit around the shell of your ear for stability. I'd have to take them off after an hour or two in pain, but not because of the in-ear component.

  • I'm still using the 3a, but I've broken the screen at least 4 times. I'm clumsy, but I don't think it's just my fault? That screen is ridiculously delicate.

However, once cracked, the hauntings begin. There are touch controls attached to the display that go haywire, and it would cycle through clicking buttons like Russian Roulette: it called the emergency line twice while cracked, and would just power itself back on when I turned it off. I finally bought a screen protector and haven't had an issue since.

  • I ordered my daughter a pizza, something I don't usually do. I got Domino's smallest size with two toppings. I got her cheese sticks and two sauces and tipped the driver 20%. $31.07.
  • I hear you, but OP already said he didn't use the internet to make the purchase. Honestly, even as a millennial I order out so infrequently that I probably wouldn't use their site either. Yes, the economic system that has created this reality is the main issue, but that doesn't mean it's incorrect to be frustrated at Dominos.

  • Lemons(?) of Lemmy, what is something that feels so obvious to you that you just get lowkey pissed at the world for not knowing?
  • A whole bunch of friends from the town I used to live in. One started peeing on his skin as an eczema treatment, which seemed to work, and somehow this progressed to drinking it. It spread, and became a thing in town. Last I heard there were about 10 pee drinkers, but obviously it's not something people talk about openly.

Apparently morning pee is relaxing because of the melatonin content?

Edit: Apparently it's a very old and widespread practice. Here's a Healthline article on it: https://www.healthline.com/health/drinking-urine

  • The cycle of pants continues
  • NO. Please no.

Though, where would they be on the cycle? Post-JNCO, when it just got to be somewhat Too Baggy, but not quite to the point where we want to know what your ankle looks like? Maybe 9 o'clock?

  • Pixel 3a, battery update - worth it?

    Hi all,

I've had a 3a for some years now, and I like almost everything about the phone (though I sincerely wish they'd used more durable glass, holy canoli). However, the battery has started to fail, and I was wondering if it's worth replacing? It would cost about 80 USD to have it professionally replaced.

I know the device is no longer supported by Google, but I was thinking of running GrapheneOS instead of Android, anyway.

Any thoughts or insights? I'm far from a genius when it comes to cell phones, so I'd appreciate anything you have to say.

    Thanks!
