Laurence Fox told to pay £180,000 in libel damages - BBC News
  • He's from a rich family and has tried acting, singing and politics to get famous. None of it worked, so he's resorted to playing the 'right-wing grifter' game. A decent base believes he should be able to say anything he wants on twitter without consequence, and that's the base he's playing to.

  • How much rubbish do you produce each week?
  • Is there any way to recycle food waste without it being 'icky' though? We have a council food waste bin, but it's outside. I don't really want it inside stinking the kitchen up. I don't want to have to bring all my food waste outside every time.

  • A simpler time
  • These weren't even what we called "memes" back then (closer to twenty years ago).

These were image macros or caption images. A meme back then was usually a phrase or saying like Over 9000 and other crap like that.

  • MPs vote for smoking ban despite Tories’ division over policy
  • I really think people are overreacting to this.

The ban is of tobacco products to people born after a certain date. They'll still be able to get nicotine products, like vapes. Kids are already moving to vapes and they're significantly less deadly (and crucially less of a burden on the NHS).

This policy just ensures the generation shift away from smoking tobacco. It's a good thing.

  • I'm looking for games that make me feel small and insignificant
  • Don't read anything about the game.

Just keep at it. It doesn't hold your hand at all, and you might get frustrated. Just give it time. If it clicks for you, you'll experience one of the best gaming experiences of your life.

  • It's so nice to see them all growing, but this is just the truth, sorry.
  • Have you actually tried Sync? It has significantly better UX than the alternatives currently, and the feature list is unparalleled (I've really missed being able to filter out specific users or communities from my feeds).

  • HS2 is officially ‘unachievable’ after being given red rating
  • That's not really comparable. China bulldozes through land with little regard for the societal or environmental impact. The UK is a place of natural beauty and has laws against doing that. It's right that we have proper surveys and planning permissions needed for this sort of thing, in my opinion!

  • Whilst generally I agree with you, I disagree with this defeatist mindset when it comes to eating meat.

I think you're underestimating how big an impact the meat industry has on the climate, and you're underestimating the power "regular people" have with regards to eating less.

The meat industry exists because we eat loads of it. If we eat less of it, the meat industry will become smaller as a capitalistic reaction.

And no, I'm not a vegan. I eat meat every day because (and this is not a valid excuse) I'm a bodybuilder and eating loads of chicken every day is an easy way to get protein. That said, I do believe that 200 years from now society will look back at our consumption of real meat as barbaric. Synthesised lab-grown meat will happen eventually, and sadly it'll probably take that for society as a whole to change. Hopefully humanity will survive to see the day!
