Yep, for all of Lemmy's hype about being a good alt to Reddit, I was pretty surprised to see how people here are treated if they don't share the majority opinion.

I usually don't like it when people get too caught up in little details like this, but I actually agree with you in this case. Hmmm, maybe I'm getting old after all.
In c/politics there was a vote to keep or get rid of the bot. Votes to get rid of it won!! Which I'm sure the mods are mad about--because they really realy like it! So it will be interesting to see if they actually follow thru and get rid of it.

I haven't self-hosted yet, but I'm working on it. Lemmy doesn't really have any conservative instances, and I don't want lemmy to become some huge echo chamber. And not just poltical-wise, I feel that more alt points of view should be welcomed.
Great post, OP. Ugh, this makes me want to learn how to do it all. I know it's not exactly brain surgery, but ugh, so many things I'd have to learn to do it. Maybe after I retire! lol
