When I urinate, why is it sometimes frothy and but usually not?
  • From healthline:

The most obvious cause of foamy urine is the speed of urination. Just as water foams up when it comes out of the tap quickly, urine foams if it hits the toilet quickly. This kind of foam should also clear up quickly.

Sometimes, urine can also foam up when it’s concentrated. Your urine is more concentrated if you haven’t had much water to drink and you’re dehydrated.

Foamy urine can also indicate that you have too much of a protein, such as albumin, in your urine. The protein in your urine reacts with the air to create foam.

Normally, your kidneys filter extra water and waste products out of your blood into your urine. Protein and other important substances that your body needs are too big to fit through the kidneys’ filters, so they stay in your bloodstream.

But when your kidneys are damaged, they don’t filter as well as they should. Damaged kidneys can allow too much protein to leak into your urine. This is called proteinuria. It’s a sign of chronic kidney disease or the late stage of kidney damage, called end-stage renal disease.

A less common cause of foamy urine is retrograde ejaculation, which is a condition that happens in men when semen backs up into the bladder instead of being released from the penis.

Amyloidosis is a rare condition that can also cause foamy urine, fluid buildup, and problems for the kidneys. It is caused by the buildup of a specific protein, and can affect many organs.

Taking the medicine phenazopyridine (Pyridium, AZO Standard, Uristat, AZO) is another less common cause of foamy urine. People take this medication to treat the pain from urinary tract infections.

And sometimes, the problem is actually just your toilet. Some toilet cleaning chemicals can make your urine look foamy. If this is the cause, the foam should stop as soon as you flush the cleaner out of the toilet.

  • Yeah I think its an important distinction to make though considering the US can definitely use that kind of money, and it might hurt to be struggling in the US and read that the government is giving away money. With weapons though, it doesn’t even feel like we’re giving anything away. Ukraine is fighting our enemy for us.

  • What specific issues are you having? It seems unlikely that spyware would be bluetooth related. If you really think that, are there any cheap “smart products” you have that connect to wifi?

  • Suggestion: Make "Blur NSFW" option account-based instead of global
  • That seems a little overkill, especially since it’s a feature I doubt very many people would use. Just having it separate for each account would be sufficient, require less processing power and battery, and less time to code.

What’s up with all the kiddy and beastiality cartoon porn on Lemmy?
  • I’ve heard about it but have luckily yet to stumble upon any. If you’re refering to furry porn (humanoid animal characters) instead of bestiality, I know the furry community has grown in the past few years, and imo it doesn’t seem to harm anyone, so I don’t really care. Cartoon CP is a completely different issue, and while it seems abhorrent, I’ve seen arguments that it could reduce real life child sex abuse. Not sure how true this is, but at least it’s not CSAM.

That being said, since lemmy is defederated it’s much more difficult to moderate. In addition, I don’t think lemmy has strong moderator tools yet (from what I’ve heard). I know they’ve recently introduced code to identify and block CSAM before it’s posted, and I believe future improvements will be made, such as better mod tools etc. Also, part of the issue is the relatively low user activity.

My suggestion for you is to find an instance that has a rule against the types of content you’d like to avoid, and defederates from instances that allow it.

    Lemmy hot sort

Why is the lemmy hot sort seemingly so bad? After the first couple of posts it turns into new posts with no votes, sometimes the same new post multiple times back to back to different communities, and sometimes posts with negative points. I came across a series of posts today with 1 upvote (poster) and 6 downvotes. I don’t get how that can be considered “hot”
