  • Simultaneously, you lose all rights to the site and risk a hostile takeover with no possible recourse.

It's also significantly more effort to retain this level of anonymity from a state actor. I don't even think there's a single Lemmy instance which follows all those steps.

The thing is, as of right now German censorship doesn't warrant this. Yes, it sucks you cannot freely speak about Israel. But frankly, since it only requires you to adjust your wording minimally without changing the message ("Israel should be destroyed" => "I support a one state solution where everyone in current-day Israel and Palestine can live freely, similar to how South Africa abolished apartheid.") it's really not worth it.

Should Germany turn fascist and ban all opposition, it is too late for feddit.org and their moderators anyways. If Germany doesn't, feddit will be fine like this and reduce the strictness of these rules as German sentiment towards Israel slowly worsens over the coming years.

  • I don't see an issue with OP bragging a little. It is difficult and time-consuming to install Gentoo for the first time. "😑" did a good job and should be proud of themselves for completing it!

  • Not really.

You can't become anonymous and retain site ownership. The site would've needed to be shut down and a new, somehow completely unrelated site would have to be started.

Besides, even if that were done you bet your ass a random German lawyer would immediately sue the new site for violating Impressumspflicht. That's one quick way to get the police investigating your site. Your OPSEC better be close to "hosting an illegal streaming site" level.

Even German forums about piracy would rather have an impress and remove illegal content than remain anonymous and evade police - see tarnkappe.info.

  • No, because the Union utterly demolished the Confederates.

We can only guess whether the union would have become and remained a military dictatorship for 25 years if they had lost and fled to Hawai. That's speculation.

After all, the ROC wasn't a military dictatorship prior to the civil war either.

  • Honestly, it does sound a bit like a hardware defect somewhere. Usually everything should work OOTB unless you are doing something really specific.

If you haven't already done so, try updating the BIOS.

You mentioned the RAM being fine - have you run Memtest86+ for several hours? One pass is usually not enough to rule out memory malfunctions.

If you have a spare drive, try installing Linux Mint on it. If it still crashes, you can rule out Windows (and if it doesn't, you could install a clean Windows on that same drive and try again).

You could also purchase a cheap AM4 motherboard (they start at like 60 bucks) to check if the issues still occur and refund it within the return window.

  • I mean German fairy tales try to maximize Schadenfreude. Bad things happen to bad people - which is fun. Sure, the "bad things" are horrific but children don't mind that usually.

I definitely remember reading a bunch of gruesome children stories as a child (and they were great)! Struwwelpeter and Max und Moritz are two funny children books with a couple of deaths.

  • There is no stable base for renewables.

At noon in summer, renewables can produce >100% of energy consumption. The nuclear reactors would need to be shut off and turned back on a couple hours later, for the months from June to September.

But nuclear cannot reactivate quick enough as solar production is winding down in the evening, nor can it shut down quick enough in the morning.

It's much, much cheaper to massively increase battery storage in order to store excess energy produced by renewables.

In winter as of right now, there is not enough energy from renewables but this is hopefully subject to change over the next decade or so. If energy costs are high enough at night, companies will start building private battery storage to fill them during winter days. That way a large part of energy consumption can adapt to production.

In case of energy droughts, gas power plants can be kept because they can turn on and shut down within minutes, making them the best at providing a varying base load.

  • wenn er die fehlende Fähigkeit des Jugendlichen zur sexuellen Selbstbestimmung ausnutzt

This paragraph is the important one. A court must first rule the teenager was not mature enough to bang an adult. Courts have ruled sexual inexperience alone is not sufficient to convict someone. The inability of a 14 year old to consent must be proven in order to convict an adult for banging a 14 year old.

  • 365.25 days * 18 hours, 15 minutes and 14 seconds * $15 = $100,000

Since the average human can stay alive for extended periods with 5 hours of sleep per night, there is nearly 45 minutes of free time per day included where the employees can take toilet breaks and eat! What a great job actually.
