 đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž Trees are 😎

  • Ahhh my eyes
  • It wasn’t allowed in the US? Wow. Didn’t know that. In EU it’s available since about ten years. Current systems have high definition projectors with >1 million pixels which can display nearly everything on the street before you.

  • iCloud Keychain users: Where do you put non-logins?
  • Hmm. Would be a workaround, but not really what I have and like with 1P.

I currently have collected about 650 items in my 1P vault. Actually that are two vaults, as I share one with my wife.

And notes itself aren’t structured, they are just free text. I like to have structured items with specified fields where I can enter my info.

Also I have several login Items where I don’t just have a user, password, OTP, domain, note. What about if it is a service where the same account is used on different websites? I can save only one domain per password?

The iOS features are so basic, I can’t imagine switching to them. Although 1P keeps to suck more, as 1P8 is only available via subscription and the 1P7 browser plugin isn’t working properly anymore. :/

    Not a good situation currently.

  • My CCR time is some years ago. I probably missed something. :)

  • Is this a JJ-CCR on the picture? The best thing about these are the stands. Had an APD CCR some time ago. Good CCR, but the missing ability to just let it stand by itself was shit.

  • It’s actually not necessary the concentration power but the available time when being adult

Reading 2 books wouldn’t be a huge problem today (if they are good and less then 1000 pages). But unfortunately the two toddlers here say no to me sitting a few hours on the couch and reading some book.

  • Pixel 8 leak promises 7 years of OS updates—even more than an iPhone
  • One big reason for my replacement last year was th camera. The X camera was nice back then
but now? No. Too much capabilities missing.

And of course 5G is quite ok. I like the dynamic island, 120 Hz screen, and some other features.

My old X ist still lying on the desk and works. But I retired it after 5 solid years of work.

  • Pixel 8 leak promises 7 years of OS updates—even more than an iPhone
  • Someone should create himself a reminder in 7 years to check if Google good this promise and still provides major OS updates for this Pixel.

Apple delivered 5 major iOS updates to the iPhone X + the whole iOS 16 lifecycle with probably some additional security updates in the next 1-2 years. Let’s see how many updates the new iPhone 15 (Pro) models will get. I expect not less.

 it depends.

  • Why are batteries in phones always measured in mAh instead of Wh like for example notebooks?
  • You could just put it in mWh. BAM, bigger number.

    3000 mAh * 3.7V = 11.100 mWh Much bigger. Much better.

    I hate mAh
it’s absolutely no information how much energy is inside without taking the voltage into account. If you use directly (m)Wh, you directly have the amount of energy the battery can contain.

  • Zinc batteries that offer an alternative to lithium just got a big boost

 could be worse. đŸ„ž

  • Damnit, I forgot one cable.

  • Early experimental French diving suit, ~1882 AD
  • I wonder how the got the seals tight. So many joints with some old technology. When they have atmospheric pressure, they can’t work with overpressure keeping the water out, as the ocean will be the overpressure trying to push the water in. đŸ€”

Wouldn’t trust this thing my life. :)

  • Early experimental French diving suit, ~1882 AD
  • Ever tried to breath when you head is in atmospheric while your chest isn’t? For example in a pool: swim straight upside in the water, only the head is above. Your chest will be approximately 0.5m below the surface, probably more or less. So you have a pressure difference of just 0.05 bar between the intake (mouth) and the location of the target reservoir (lung). It’s a very noticeable effort you have to overcome with your breathing muscles.

And now imagine being just 20m deep with atmospheric pressure at your head. That would be a pressure difference of 2 bar. You probably won’t be able to inhale anything.

When scuba diving, the air you are inhaling has always the same pressure as your surroundings. When you dive at 40m you are inhaling air with a pressure of 5 bar (that’s also the reason why your tank is emptying much faster at that depth).

  • Early atmospheric diving suit preparing to explore the sunken ship Lusitania, ~1935 AD
  • Just speaking for current divers (as I’m too young to have experience with the old divers):

Yes, there are crazy ones. But diving itself is quite safe. As long as you follow the rules. Even diving deep hast safety layers. As long as you follow the rules (!!!).

The most important rules: plan your dive, equip yourself according the plan and the most important rule: follow your plan and don’t change it mid-dive.

  • What job do people take way too seriously?
  • That’s why I switched sides. From programming myself to developing functions and writing requirements which someone else can implement into code. :)

I could do some programming (did embedded C), but surely I wasn’t the very best in it. So now I’m the guy who defines what a small (but essential) part of SW has to do which will run in hopefully a few million cars in a couple of years. :) Much more fun (and money).
