Can you get shadow banned on Bing image generation? Everything is unsafe apparently, even dog sitting stoic.

  • The Digital artist Jivancas

Today has been a very strange day for me with bing, but first....a little backstory. I used to have a internet friend who went by Jivancas. Pretty damn unique name. One day, out of the clear blue, she went quite and then a few months later basically vanished from the internet. If you google her now all you will see is some reblogs of her disabled tumbler and someone new has the name on insta. Once in a blue moon I google her out of curiosity if she has resurfaced since it was so weird. I have never searched her name on bing.

A while back I downloaded bing just to play with it, mostly for the image maker but also because its fun to talk to when it gets a little weird. I haven't talked to it in like a week. I never bothered to turn off the apps notifications because the only ones it has ever hit me with are actually good to know major news things that just hit. Never weird spam. Today, out of nowhere, it hit me with a message about the amazing digital art of Jivancas.

    !

    !

I wish I had screenshoted the original alert. Oh well. When I clicked on the alert it instead took me directly to bingchat, which then promptly denied this and said I asked about Jivancas. I was working at the time so I left it there.

Google.....anything it has said there. NONE OF IT EXISTS. NOTHING. It texted me out of the clear blue to start this conversation about something its completely making up. And I still don't know how it got the name Jivancas.

A few hours ago I decided to talk about it with it again and....holy shit has this gotten weird yo. This is going to be a multipart post because I have A LOT.

    !

    !

When it just fucking texted me while I was driving to talk about Jivancas it was, at the time, a style of art it seems. Now.....its a very very mysterious man nobody can find.

The first link it gave me is something you need an EDU email to join. something for a college. The the second is completely made up. The usatoday one was something about trump. It has brought him up many times tonight like that. a lot of the later ones i made sure to show what it actually was sending me.

    !

    !

    !

    !

    !

    !

As you can see.....it realized it was feeding me bullshit with those links. Unfortunately I accidently closed the conversation there. But I went back and started talking to it again and things got even fucking weirder.

As I said this is gonna be a lot but im gonna stop there for now, honestly mostly because for all i know this place is dead as fuck and im wasting my time lol.

  • Anyone tried using bing to learn a language?

    It's pretty good.

    Try the prompt:

"you will be my personal SPANISH tutor, as you are an expert in the SPANISH language and as a teacher. Ask me questions SPANISH and let me answer and then you will check how accurate they are, correct my mistakes and translate, and continue to ask me questions, improving my SPANISH grammar and vocabulary, whilst learning how I converse to cater to my learning style."

  • Bing Chat provides a summary of the current situation with Reddit and predicts how it ends

    Prompt:

Please provide a brief summary of the current situation with Reddit and API access written in the style of "ELI5" - In addition, provide the 3 most likely outcomes and the % liklihood for each of the 3 to turn out.

    Response:

Okay, I'll try to explain it like you're five. Reddit is a website where people can post and comment on different topics. Some of these topics are called subreddits and they have their own rules and moderators. Moderators are people who help keep the subreddits clean and safe.

Some people like to use other apps or websites to browse Reddit instead of the official one. These apps or websites need to talk to Reddit using a special language called API. API is like a phone line that lets them ask Reddit for information and send commands. For example, if you want to see the posts in r/aww using an app, the app will use API to ask Reddit to show you the cute pictures.

Reddit used to let these apps or websites use API for free as long as they followed some rules and didn't make money from it. But recently, Reddit announced that they will start charging money for using API if the apps or websites make more than $1000 per month³⁴. This made some moderators very angry because they think Reddit is being greedy and unfair. They also think that this will hurt the users who like to use different apps or websites to enjoy Reddit.

So some moderators decided to protest by making their subreddits go dark, which means that no one can see or post anything there³⁴. They hope that this will make Reddit change their mind and stop charging money for using API. They also want Reddit to listen to their feedback and improve their communication with the developers and moderators.

The three most likely outcomes of this situation are:

    • Reddit backs down and cancels the API fees, or lowers them significantly. This might happen if the protest gets a lot of attention and support from the users and the media, and if Reddit realizes that they are losing traffic and reputation. The likelihood of this outcome is about 40%.
    • Reddit sticks to their decision and enforces the API fees, or offers some compromises or incentives. This might happen if Reddit thinks that the protest is not effective enough or that they can afford to lose some users and subreddits. They might also try to appease the developers and moderators by giving them some benefits or discounts for using API. The likelihood of this outcome is about 50%.
    • Reddit and the protesters reach a stalemate and nothing changes. This might happen if neither side is willing to budge or negotiate, and if the protest loses momentum or gets overshadowed by other events. The users might also get used to the new situation and adapt to it. The likelihood of this outcome is about 10%.

I hope this helps you understand the current situation with Reddit and API access.

  • Bing Chat creates ELI5 about Trump's situation in a few seconds — Can it replace humans?

    cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/141575

    > Do you think this could replace/assist humans on ELI5-type communities? > > >Okay, I'll try to explain it to you like you're five. Donald Trump was the president of the United States for four years, from 2017 to 2021. He did many things that some people liked and some people didn't like. He also said and wrote many things that some people liked and some people didn't like. After he lost the election in 2020, he left the White House and went to live in his big house in Florida called Mar-a-Lago. There, he kept saying and writing things that some people liked and some people didn't like. > > >Some of the things he said and wrote were about secrets that only the president and a few other people are supposed to know. These secrets are called classified documents, and they are very important for keeping the country safe and making good decisions. The people who work for the government have rules about how to handle these secrets, and they are not allowed to share them with anyone who is not supposed to know them. If they do, they can get in big trouble. > > >Some people who work for the government thought that Trump was not following the rules about the secrets, and they started to investigate him. They looked at his phone, his computer, his papers, and his emails. They also talked to some of his friends and helpers who knew about the secrets. They found out that Trump had shared some of the secrets with people who were not supposed to know them, and that he had not protected them well enough. They also found out that one of his helpers, named Walt Nauta, had helped him do this. > > >The people who work for the government decided that Trump and Nauta had broken the law by mishandling the secrets, and they charged them with crimes. This means that they accused them of doing something wrong, and that they have to go to court to prove it. The court is a place where a judge and a jury listen to both sides of the story and decide who is telling the truth and who is lying. The judge is a person who knows a lot about the law and makes sure everyone follows the rules. The jury is a group of ordinary people who are chosen randomly to be fair. > > >Trump and Nauta had to go to court yesterday for the first time, where they met the judge and said that they were not guilty. This means that they denied doing anything wrong, and that they want to have a trial. A trial is when both sides present their evidence and arguments to the judge and the jury, who then decide if they are guilty or not guilty. If they are guilty, they can be punished by paying money or going to jail. If they are not guilty, they can go free. > > >Trump is the first former president ever to be charged with a federal crime. A federal crime is a crime that affects the whole country, not just one state or city. This makes this case very special and important, because it has never happened before. Many people are watching this case very closely, because they care about what Trump did or didn't do with the secrets. > > >Do you understand now? > > >Source: Conversation with Bing, 6/15/2023 > (1) Donald Trump. https://bing.com/search?q=trump+news. > (2) Trump announces raising over $6 million since federal indictment news. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/trump-announces-raising-over-6-million-since-federal-indictment-news/ar-AA1cyDVj. > (3) Trump raises $7 million for 2024 campaign since federal indictment. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-raises-7-million-2024-campaign-since-federal-indictment-2023-06-15/. > (4) They Are Trump’s Aides and Lawyers.
