- Garmin HRM Pro Plus + Forerunner Watch & Garmin Connect
Edit: So I had class today, syncing it to my watch worked exactly as described, so yay. (JIC anybody else was curious)
So, this is a silly special case, I can't wear my watch during karate class, so I bought the HRM to sync with Garmin Connect, but it didn't seem to sync to the workout, I read online that it has to sync to the watch, so I just connected it to my watch, will this allow for recording my HR and then sync to Connect, or is there a special way to get it to sync with the workout?
- When are new smartwatches announced?
Hi all! I have a Venue Sq, and I've been thinking of purchasing a new watch for quite some time. I've been mostly leaning towards a Fenix 7, since it has some more sport features, and has no microphone (the Venue 3 has a microphone, which I wouldn't use and don't really trust).
However, the Fenix 7 was announced in January 2022, and I'm wondering if there will be either Fenix 8 or at least a discount on the Fenix 7 sometime soon, so I'm hesitant to buy one now.
When are new watches usually announced? Any thoughts on whether it makes sense to wait?
- How do I stop getting the daily workout recommendations?
I turned on the workout recommendations on my Fenix 6 Pro months ago. I've been hunting through settings on my watch and in the app, but can I find the option again?
Could anybody put me out of my misery and remind me where the setting is?
- No ECG
Recently splurged for a Fenix 7 Pro. Maps, music to ear buds, the light, battery life all great. It keeps asking me to enable ECG, but at the point where it's supposed to sense something with one's index finger and thumb on the metal ring near the watch face... nothing. Garmin Chat verified I had the right SW update, and said try a few more days. Nothing.
Checked on R*****. A couple folks there with the same problem. It may work for more people after another SW update or two. But do not be surprised if it doesn't for you.
- Anyone have the new Venu 3/3S?
I have a Venu 2 Plus which I quite like. Any significant differences in the new 3/3S?
- Any tips for beginners?
I just got a new Garmin watch. I like it quite a bit. I love the weekly steps competition, it's rather motivating for a numbers chaser like me. Any way does anyone have some cool tips or features to look out for? I'm trying to get this community a bit more active.
- Vent Post about VO2max
I’m sure people have seen posts criticizing this feature on garmin communities in the past, but I just wanted to share my personal experience. Over the past 3 months I have really been putting effort into my exercise and fitness level, I do some sort of workout 5 days a week whether that be a bike ride, basketball cardio, or lifting weights. I can feel my body getting in much better shape and see the results in my physique, and notice my stamina and energy levels improving.
And yet, garmin VO2max seems to think I’m regressing! I know there are a lot of variables like temperature, elevation, whether I did a workout already that day etc but it is SO frustrating to see that my number did not move for 2 months and then has dropped twice in the past month, meanwhile I’m in the best shape I’ve been in since before the pandemic.
I know it’s just a silly number and isn’t the whole story, it isn’t always accurate etc. but it’s still so annoying to see. I went for a 3 mile walk today and I felt amazing, it was very warm out and the trail had a lot of hills so I know for a fact that played into the measurement, but garmin says I’ve dropped 2 points since I started working out and that’s just so dumb.
Anyways, rant over, thanks for reading if you did.
TLDR: Garmin VO2max is useless unless you’re training on a completely flat surface on a perfect weather day that isn’t too hot. Don’t let the stupid number discourage you, focus on the workouts and how you feel, because I feel amazing!
