Old School Cool
- I think I can fly
Picture of me in 1980 being thrown in the air by my Opa. That jumpsuit was fly back then I imagine.
- We all thought we were cool for being date-less at prom.
Early 2000’s. Is this old enough for old school cool? We all decided to go as a group for prom, with no one having a date.

- My grandfather in his Navy uniform during WW2.
I believe this was a candid shot someone took of him. My other grandfather was in the army during WW2, but I have yet to dig up that photo again. I came across this one today, while sifting through old items. I believe this picture was taken before Pearl Harbor was bombed; the location where he was stationed.

Here's the story behind the picture, it's pretty interesting. The picture was shot by a Colorado photographer named Bob Jackson.
- Grandpa and his mom, smoking while in his uniform
Grandpa recently passed away and I found this pic of him smoking. I didn't know he smoked. My grandma made him stop before she would marry him.
This is probably around 1955.
- My sister and I during the 1976 US bicentennial
Shortly after this picture was taken, we were on a float with my mother for the bicentennial parade. She made both our outfits of a (very itchy) polyester gabardine, and she wore a dress to match.
The apples my sister is holding meant something, but I don’t remember what and now I can’t ask her. I’d be very interested if anyone knows the significance of the apples during the US bicentennial.
I was 5 and my sister was 3.

Asphalt surfing the big, empty hills at La Costa, California. Fibreflex skateboard and well-worn pants. That's me at age 19. I still have roadrash scars from those days...
- Nyimi Kok Mabiintsh III, King of Kuba (D.R. Congo) (~1988)
>The Nyimi Mabiintsh III is fifty years old. He acquired the throne at the age of twenty. As a descendant of god the creator, the king is attributed with supernatural powers. Due to his top position he is restricted by several contraints: he does not have the right to sit on the ground, and he cannot cross a cultivated field. Apart from his cook, no one has seen him eat. Moreover he never travels without him, and his personal cooking ustensils.
>It took Laine three weeks to photograph the Nyimi (king) of the Kuba in his royal apparel, the “bwantshy”. The outfit made out of material stitched with beads and “cauris” (small shells used as money in Africa), weighs 160 lb. It takes more than two hours to dress the King, and two days of spiritual preparation to be sufficiently purified in order to wear the outfit. The weight and the heat of the bwantshy is such, that it is impossible to wear it more than one hour. The preceeding King had only worn it three time during his entire life.

My dad Postie (Left) - with his brother Timmy in the early 80's. Straight up pimping. Raised me, a white son as his own from the day I was born. My mom said "I don't know who the dad is", and he replied "he's my boy now". Absolute Legend!
