- COVER warned to take action following violations of Japan's Subcontractor Act
During a period of 2+ years, Cover:
- Made contractors do extra work (e.g., extra revisions), without sufficient justification (as per contract terms), without providing additional payment for that extra work.
- Had late payments, including some payments late by over 300 days (!!).
In response to the guidance received from the Japan Fair Trade Commission, Cover:
- Will cease their heinous criminal activity and follow the rules now.
- Has resolved late payments, with interest.
- Will attempt to rectify processes / training / etc that lead to the situation happening.
- Will check if there are any other oopsies.
- Will tell everyone they fucked up and what they've done about it.
- Will report back to the Commission.

There was a long rumor that the reason she didn't quit the company when everyone else was quitting was because she was trying to outlast the company and retain the IP. She's the companies top talent, so the fact that there were willing to sell the IP to her really doesn't look good for the longevity of the company. They now only have 3 of the 14 talents they had signed.
I've held a theory that she's independently wealthy and could weather the bs. She's mentioned having her own manager that she pays directly a few months ago, which is really weird for an agency vtuber to have.

Her Vod channel are so got terminated, but it's back now.
- BSApricot aka Froot has released a 90 page document talking about her past relationship(s).
You maybe asking, "Why did she make this?". The answer is, "Beats me.". Seeing it's been 10-20 years after she cheated on husband while he was deployed in Afghanistan. All the document did is to remind people she she cheated on husband. So GG Froot.
Also you have what she did during Hogwarts Legacy boycott shit show. She said, she was going to donate the money to a Pro Trans organisation. But she didn't.

- Hiya! Any linux experts out there that could help me?
Hello! I'm a small time vtuber who moved to MX Linux a while back. I use a 3d model, and while I was able to get my model working, with the help of my husband (even better than windows actually,) we cannot get my hand tracking to work.
I've used the ultra leap on Windows with no issues. On the same PC, I tried to get it working on Linux. I use MX Linux (xfce), and the system is up to date. I know that the "Gemini" software only officially supports Ubuntu 22.04, but Ubuntu is Debian based and so is MX. So, I gave it a try. The program installed fine, and it seems to work normally. The device seems to be connected, and I can view its output through the web cam viewer.
However, the ultra leap Gemini program can't find the device. I'm far from a Linux expert, but I tried all the program's terminal commands that I could. I think what I need is to point the program to the device ID or something, maybe. Does anybody have any experience with something like this?
We also tried the older version of the program and that didn't work either. But I remember less about that. It was all terminal based I think.
I use OpenSeeFace and VSeeFace as my tracking software.
Any tips or trick I could try?

- MSM Talent's talent list from March to today.
This might be considered drama, but I thought some people might be interested in an update.
March Wayback Machine listing.
For those out of the loop, back in May, FalseEyed broke a story about MSM. Right after that, several vtubers shared their own stories about dealing with the CEO and his bad behavior.
Just afterward, Aethel made two statements. The first one saying that he's talking to HIS laywers. The second announcing his departure.
Since then, the company has been shedding talents. I assume more are just waiting for their contracts to run out and want to leave quietly.
According to Krimbo, the MSM CEO is largely responsible for Takahata101's burnout last year. It will be interesting to see who shows back up in the bar now that Taka is back.
Edit: Another four dropped since I posted this. GhostySaige, Nagzz, RPR and Vexoria.
Most of the open drama is happening on Twitter, which I don't use, so I can only relay second hand info. MSM's Director of Talent also bailed yesterday with the support of exMSM talents.
Edit 2: and the talent page is empty. Some back and forth going on on twitter.

- Update on the Fillian, Goodsmile, & VRchat model creator drama.
Jingo, the VRchat model creator, tweeted (archive) he mainly wants to protect the copyright of his characters, as many other people use them.
Jingo's Tweet translated.
Hello, this is Jingo.
I just returned to Japan early this morning, so please forgive me for the delay in cleaning up.
I have received all replies from the Vtuber and Good Smile Company, and we plan to proceed in a direction that will protect my rights to the greatest extent possible.
My position is that I would like to have a smooth negotiation through communication.
The models I make are products that anyone can use if they are purchased on BOOTH.
They were mainly made as avatars for VRChat, but
the terms of use allow the use of avatars outside of VRChat as long as they are not used by third parties other than the purchaser.
Personal Vtuber activities are also allowed.
However, just because a model is purchased on BOOTH does not mean that the purchaser has all the rights, and in the end, the model is rented, so
If revenue is generated through general Vtuber activities such as videos and streaming, we ask that you credit the person.
Going further from here, there is a terms of use that requires prior contact for activities that have a large commercial potential, such as character product production, beyond general Vtuber activities such as videos and streaming, and we provide guidance on crediting after consideration.
Usually, the scale is not that big, and VTubers themselves handle the production and sales without going through a company, so selling character merchandise like this is not a problem.
However, if a VTuber has an agency and uses the character through a company or corporation, we receive accurate information and advance notice even if it is not for commercial use.
The problem I have is that the VTuber does not own the copyright to the character, and the project was carried out through a contract with a company without any notice to the original character's owner.
Therefore, I have requested that the production schedule for this character merchandise project be suspended.
I do not need royalties or incentives, I just want to protect the copyright of the character.
If this is allowed, such as selling copyright licenses, each character derived from my model will have its own copyright, which may lead to complicated copyright disputes between people who use the same model.
I want people to recognize that my BOOTH characters are not models for just one person, but models for shared use.
Since they are not completely my original designs, no matter how much I modify them, the original author's traces remain, so I cannot give up the copyright.
Terms of use vary depending on the creator and model, so please be sure to check before using a model.
We look forward to your continued support.
- Fillian & Goodsmile are in trouble with a VRchat model creator.
Fillian's model is a VRchat model called "rindo" (archive) that she has modified for her own use. The creator of the model has a terms of use (archive) for it's use and one thing mentioned within it is that if you're going to produce physical goods for sale of their characters that they want to be consulted for permission first.
Today, Goodsmile announced a Fillian Nendroid (archive) and no one ever contacted the creator of the model. Who's now saying on twitter (archive) that he's contacting both the company and Fillian to sort out the disagreement. Whether this means the figure gets cancelled or not will have to be seen.
Here's the creator's Tweet translated.
EDIT She has a Youtooz figure (archive) too. So she may owe a good sum of money to the artist for that.

new: https://virtualyoutuber.fandom.com/wiki/MinikoMew
Weird that she would abandon a 100k+ identity for a rebrand when her old IP already had a serious redesign. It was bothering me where she went when she disappeared out of the blue. One of her notable collabs was being the first to collab with Neuro-sama.
