If you mix orange juice and spiced rum together it tastes like creamsicle, this is my contribution for the day
- My suggestion: water. Have some every time you finish a drink. Might keep you from feeling crappy the next day.
  
  Besides the obvious of beer or ciders, if you want cocktails and have a way to make them or have someone make them my favourites when I first started drinking were white russians and moscow mules. White russians are sweet and coffee/cream flavoured while moscow mules are very gingery if you like that. Other ones that my friends liked early on were things like mojitos, killer koolaid if you want something really sweet, or polar bears which taste like an after eight mint. If you want something simple you can never go wrong with mixing alcohol and a chase like rum&coke or vodka&orange. Just drink water to space out your drinks and have gatorade ready to drink in the morning to avoid a hangover.
  
  Coolers are definitely a good choice, I started with them too! You won't need to worry about the hand sanitizer taste of hard alcohol, it takes some getting used to

  Loll makes sense. I was in a similar position when I started college. Drinking is best done socially anyway, so I think it's a good plan.
  I see you got some great advice about drink choice, all I'll add is that drinking on an empty stomach is a big no no, and you gotta eat before drinking for it to count.
